It is confusing, because it looks like I posted test result with "testing" version and after that someone else posted test with the same version, but "staging" in this case, which is not true. However, now the video playback only appears in the upper-left corner of the screen. It isn't clipped, but it looks like the system is failing to change screen resolution. I receive a notice that there's an error and Battle.net has to shut down. I close it, and the error shows up again. This continues in a cycle until I use "wineserver -k" to exit. The backtrace saved from this has been attached. I am able to use the Settings button on the login screen for the Battle.net app, as well as typing in a username/password, but I cannot go any farther than that because there is no submit button and it doesn't seem to want to load. Be aware that I had previously been loading Starcraft II directly using the SC2Switcher.exe executable, but because a new version needs to be downloaded, I'm needing to get into the Battle.net app. Not sure if not using the app is a side effect. Video is not rendered, but audio is played. Starting the game in a virtual desktop does not help, it only replaces the black screen with the blue background of the virtual desktop. The videos can still be skipped, so this does not prevent reaching the game menu and starting a game. All GStreamer plugins are installed (base, good, ugly, bad, libav). Despite the bug metadata being set to WINE 9.8, the current 9.9 build is affected too (but is not proposed when opening a new bug report). This behaviour has been noticed on a Wayland setup with an AMD GPU and Mesa drivers. I should be able to try reproducing it on X.org and with nVIDIA non-free drivers too, I will report back once it is done. I decided to try to tackle this issue because everyone on Lutris says the first solution to this bug is to disable DXVK, and the other one is to install Battle.net on a ext4 drive, although this is not an ideal solution for some users (like me). I found out that there is a bug that Battle.net cannot find the required DLLs, even though they exist in the Wine prefix. Also, I know the maintainers of Bugzilla encourage reporting only one problem per bug. That being said, the exact same time this started happening, my existing Wine prefix for Battle.net (and my Battle.net games) caused thread crashes when opening Battle.net after installing yesterday's update. The update was installed from within the Battle.net client by clicking the green icon to install the update. Prior to this update released yesterday on November 30, 2023, Battle.net and the games were running flawlessly. Pressing ESC closes the game (with the full-screen, black window), and I can see the attached output in my terminal. I should be able to switch to another desktop and get a debug trace when the black game window is on the screen, if you'd like me to do that. I'm using 375.26 of NVidia's drivers.
