I'm not sure if this counts as a regression, given the amount of changes that went recently (even during code freeze) into winex11.drv. Anyway, it's easiest to observe (for example) with Unnamed Space Idle. If I switch from the desktop with the game window and back again, the wine window pops up on top regardless of its z-order before the switch and the window's titlebar indicates it has focus... ...yet, as I move the mouse within the window, the tooltip windows don't show up for its respective elements. This holds until I either click on the game window or Alt-Tab within this desktop. Then, I have managed to install Cubase 14.0.10 via the Steinberg Download Assistant, which actually worked really well! Alas, when launching the application, the error pops up saying: "The application has to be shut down because of a serious graphic driver related issue. If this problem persists please write down the following error code and contact Steinberg Technical Support. Error code = 0x80004001" There were similar bugs happening on Windows at some point, albeit not the same error code: - https://forums.steinberg.net/t/cubase-pro-11-crashing-due-to-graphics-error… - https://forums.steinberg.net/t/serious-graphics-error-and-crash-on-12-0-50-… - https://forums.steinberg.net/t/cubase-keeps-shutting-down-graphics2d-dll-er… This leads me to believe that there might be something missing in the graphical pipeline implementation, but as to what this might be – I'm completely clueless. I can reproduce a crash in 5.22, 6.0, and 6.10, which is fixed by f266c87bc948c7b44b4196a31a2cff627a8ea970 (part of 6.21). Backporting that patch, I can't reproduce a crash in any of those versions (except for bug 52390 which isn't a regression either). I don't know why 5.22 *worked* for the reporter. Even if there was some other bug specific to their setup (plausible, given they were using NVidia binary drivers and I was not), that should still have resulted in a crash. Possibly the game itself changed. Also possibly they were inadvertently using DXVK or something. They mentioned wine-staging, but I am confident there was nothing in wine-staging at that time that would have avoided that bug. I can't explain the regression, but on the other hand, a request for retesting has gone without response, and I'm unable to reproduce a regression either, so I'm going to call this ABANDONED. In the crash log the blt is using memory after it was free'd by void wined3d_resource_free_sysmem(struct wined3d_resource *resource) with the registry setting Direct3D/renderer=gdi command I used to launch sega rally ./wine explorer /desktop=VirtualDesktop,800x600 ~/.wine/drive_c/SEGA/SRALLY/RALLY.EXE -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
