[Bug 57600] Application not showing console output

It looks like my message didn't actually post :( Here's the gist of my unposted messages: Upon further research, we don't spawn a new child process, but rather we just create a new console by using AllocConsole and redirect the stdout via freopen("CONOUT$", "w", stdout); .... I have attached a C++ application that pretty much replicates this behaviour. What I would expect to see is that I should be able to do wine app.exe | cat or even tail -f /proc/{procid}/fd/1 ... and that should spit out the console output to my terminal. The actual application behavior is matching in windows and wine, but for the life of me... I have no way of spitting out the Allocated Console stdout. The only thing I can think of is line # 1403 in dlls/ntdll/unix/env.c if (main_image_info.SubSystemType != IMAGE_SUBSYSTEM_WINDOWS_CUI) return; I'm definitely not even remote to close to familiar with wine, but wouldn't this prevent the std handles from being initialized (and therefore I'm unable to get my console output) ?? I'm honestly just interested in getting the console output so I would love to hear your thoughts. The blamed change created the regression because it initializes the window surface clipping region to a rect region matching the visible rect when it was left empty before. With an empty clipping region, when the window is being shown, the Expose event we receive is ignored by `expose_window_surface`, assuming there's no redraw necessary. If a clipping region is set, we call NtUserRedrawWindow with RDW_ERASE which clears the window. The toplevel window is created without WS_CLIPCHILDREN, so it doesn't actually need child window clipping, and the last window to present is supposed to be visible. Originally the two client windows were put offscreen as there's a child window and we didn't bother checking the clipping rules, and the video child window was being blitted to the toplevel window itself through GDI blits. Now, as we are checking WS_CLIPCHILDREN and the window region to decide whether we need to move the surface offscreen, it turns out that the toplevel client window doesn't need to and we're keeping it on screen. It however obscures its parent window pixels and any drawing that is done by other offscreen children.
