The source directory on my system was corrupted due to a drive failure during the most recent git pull. Cloning a fresh copy and rebuilding from it fixed the problem. [Bug 57893] New: Progress is not going until you move a mouse

by WineHQ Bugzilla

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57893 Bug ID: 57893 Summary: Progress is not going until you move a mouse Product: Wine Version: 9.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: MacOS Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: isakov-sl(a)bk.ru Created attachment 78123 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=78123 Progress bar This is a Game Editor which I had to launch under wine in the bug 57733. It is not really a wine-9.0, it is crossover-base v24.0.7 which is based on wine-9 but I don't know where it is better to report. The application is X64, DirectX9 using .Net 4.0 (dotnet48) and .Net Runtime (dotnet9). Not sure if other patches by CX or by me somehow influence. The is a new strange bug: At the program start it doesn't show toolbar waiting indefinite. But when I touch the mouse the interface became fullfilled. Then I choose to create a random map and wait. It requires 2 minutes in real windows but I wait very long with wine. Than I touch the mouse and the progress bar begin moving. To make the work I have to move mouse again and again. It looks like the game or the wine going to sleep every 2 seconds and wakes after I move the mouse. How it possible? I can't check with any other wine version or flavour as the my engine the only working for this game. The log contains very many shaders errors but I see nothing concerning the bug. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 57834] Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't load with CyberEngine Tweaks

I haven't seen it > even mentioned anywhere during web-wide search for hacks to make CP2077 > playable, it was all about giving up on wine and using proton. Nobody even > said which part of proton makes it work. It's not an obscure hack and has been around for years at this point? dxvk and vkd3d-proton rely on modern features of Vulkan without limitations, which allows them to provide implementations of D3D9 - D3D12 that have very good performance. Upstream Wine has to accommodate limitations of translating Vulkan to Metal on macOS which limits features of Vulkan it relies on, that's why on Linux upstream Wine's implementation leaves some performance on the table so to say. If you weren't aware of that - well now you are. But this has been so for a quite a while already and it's the primary reason to always use dxvk + vkd3d-proton for gaming on Linux even if you use upstream Wine. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Does it > matter how the prefix was initially created? (Does it work in an existing > win64 prefix? Does it work in an existing win32 prefix? Is there such a > thing as a wow64 prefix?) Not sure if there is a flavor of wow64 prefix, but to your other question - yes, from my testing if you run a 32-bit program in a 64-bit prefix that was created in the past (or now), it will use 32-bit libraries proper using the old style wow64, but if you set WINEARCH=wow64, it will use 64-bit libraries in that special thunking mode (new style of wow64). I.e. basically you can now do both with forcing the new mode with a variable. I don't use 32-bit prefixes anymore since there is really no point in them so can't say what will happen there, but wow64 is irrelevant for them anyway. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Simply always enable dxvk + vkd3d-proton (I > symlink them in the prefix so I can update them independently). There is nothing "self-explanatory" in using a fork of wine's core subsystem about existence of which I haven't even heard until now. And there is no ready-to-use distro package for it either, while I'm too lazy to make it (rpm spec-scripts for dll compilation are some obtuse bullshit, I'll tell you what) and keep it updated along with my custom dxvk package. So it's a boon that I did not have to build it too myself. > They are giving best performance and compatibility so it's sort of > redundant to mention it in app db, it's an implicit expectation at this point. No, this is an obscure hack and exactly what appdb is for.
