[Bug 60558] New: configure reports "Wayland development files not found" when xkbregistry (or xkbcommon) is missing

by WineHQ Bugzilla

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60558 Bug ID: 60558 Summary: configure reports "Wayland development files not found" when xkbregistry (or xkbcommon) is missing Product: Wine Version: 11.20 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: build-env Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: truiken(a)gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/840a939ee526137639665ff5f587224d… The check for Wayland includes five dependencies: WAYLAND_CLIENT_LIBS, WAYLAND_SCANNER, XKBCOMMON_LIBS, XKBREGISTRY_LIBS, linux_input.h. If any of these are missing, configure outputs "Wayland development files not found". It may be surprising to some that installing libwayland-dev (or equivalent) does not fully satisfy this dependency, and reading configure.ac is required to know what to install. This can be fixed by using separate WINE_NOTICE_WITH checks for each dependency using the same enable_wayland_drv parameter (as is done with other components like Kerberos). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 60557] New: Ubisoft Connect starts with a blank window on X11

by WineHQ Bugzilla

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60557 Bug ID: 60557 Summary: Ubisoft Connect starts with a blank window on X11 Product: Wine Version: 11.0-rc3 Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/ubisoft-connect OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69(a)gmail.com CC: rbernon(a)codeweavers.com Target Milestone: --- Regression SHA1: 83270eb2bb01a84310707e9feb01c071ee1d9a93 Distribution: ArchLinux Created attachment 82423 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=82423 plain terminal output (WINEDEBUG=fixme-dxgi,fixme-d3d11) Ubisoft Connect starts with a persistent white window instead of displaying its login screen. The client continues running. Grabbing the apparent title-bar area or slightly resizing the window can make the interface appear immediately. Disabling libglesv2.dll (bug #44985) restores the interface but causes continuous CPU usage of approximately 100% while the client is idle. I passed the following command line switches to the upc.exe but none of them fixed the problem: --use-angle=gl --disable-direct-composition --disable-gpu-compositing --disable-gpu --in-process-gpu The regression was bisected between Wine 11.0-rc2 and 11.0-rc3 to: 83270eb2bb01a84310707e9feb01c071ee1d9a93 winex11: Avoid creating window data entirely for offscreen windows. Reverting this commit applies cleanly to Wine 11.20 and restores automatic display of the login screen on X11. The window may initially remain white for approximately two seconds before the interface appears without any mouse interaction. Window geometry: ================ Maximization is not required to reproduce the problem. The client stores its window settings in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Ubisoft Game Launcher\settings.yaml On my 1440×900 display the initial settings are: position: height: 859 left: 0 maximized: false top: 0 width: 1440 The 859-pixel height leaves room for my always-visible Xfce panel at the bottom. This is a work-area-sized window rather than a confirmed fullscreen state. With the client completely closed I also tested: position: height: 700 left: 0 maximized: false top: 0 width: 1000 The client still starts with a white window at the requested 1000×700 size. Simply grabbing its apparent title-bar area makes the login screen appear. This workaround is less accessible when the Xfce panel is hidden and the client fills the entire 1440×900 display. In that state I cannot resize the window even when the pointer changes to a resize cursor. Double-clicking the apparent title bar does not restore the interface either. An Ubisoft account is not required to reproduce this issue. The failure occurs before signing in. Download: https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/ubisoft-connect Click “Download Ubisoft Connect” at the top of the page. UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe (252 MiB) sha256: 3cec13adb297daf861528ca59c94467d9aee4b43b0089ebc211cf5de16618503 Ubisoft Connect version: 174.2.13389 (built October 8, 2026) Bundled CEF version, extracted from libcef.dll: 135.0.20+ge7de5c3+chromium-135.0.7049.85 CEF: 135.0.20+ge7de5c3 Chromium: 135.0.7049.85 Steps to reproduce: 1. Install Ubisoft Connect. 2. Leave libglesv2.dll enabled and Wine's “Allow the window manager to control the windows” option enabled. 3. Start the client with `wine UbisoftConnect.exe` without additional command-line arguments. 4. Observe that the login window remains white. 5. Click and hold the apparent title-bar area at the top of the white window, or slightly resize the window. The login interface may then appear immediately. This workaround doesn't seem to work when the client's window occupies the whole desktop area. Using Wine's virtual desktop mode is a more reliable way to make this workaround work. wine-11.20-20-g840a939ee52 Arch Linux X11 / Xfce / Xfwm 4.20.0 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER / driver NVIDIA 615.78.08 Reproduced with both legacy WoW64 and the new WoW64 mode Reproduced in normal desktop mode and Wine virtual desktop mode Reproduced with Wine's built-in graphics DLLs and with DXVK I also reproduced a white window under KDE Plasma with XWayland. Native Wine Wayland has a blank-window problem too, but that also occurs with Wine 10.0 and the parent of the bisected commit. Reverting the commit does not resolve native Wayland. Bug #44985 describes similar symptoms and the same libglesv2.dll workaround. This report concerns the X11 regression identified by the bisect and confirmed by reverting the commit. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 60556] New: winex11.drv: per-pixel alpha layered windows show stale or black areas under Xwayland because of the bounding shape

by WineHQ Bugzilla

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60556 Bug ID: 60556 Summary: winex11.drv: per-pixel alpha layered windows show stale or black areas under Xwayland because of the bounding shape Product: Wine Version: 11.20 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: alessandro.abbinante(a)live.it Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- Autodesk Fusion 360's floating panels (Browser, Comments) are top-level WS_EX_LAYERED windows with per-pixel alpha (32-bit ARGB X windows, about 300x1190, mostly transparent below the tree). After the panel is moved or a design is opened, part of it shows the panel's old contents and the area the window grew into stays opaque black. The application keeps drawing correctly into it. This is not related to Direct3D (unlike bug 60173): there is no swap chain on these windows. Environment: Arch Linux, wine 11.20 (Arch package), winex11.drv, Hyprland 0.56 with Xwayland 24.1.14, NVIDIA RTX 5080 with driver 615.78. What I observed: - XGetImage of the panel window returns the correct contents: opaque pixels for the tree and 0x00000000 below it. A screenshot of the same area taken at the same moment shows grey panel and black instead. - Drawing an opaque rectangle into the window with XFillRectangle in the lower area changes neither the screen nor a following XGetImage, as expected if that area is outside the window's bounding shape. Analysis (from reading dlls/winex11.drv/bitblt.c at wine-11.20 and current master): x11drv_surface_flush() sets the window's ShapeBounding from the shape bits whenever they change (the mask of non transparent pixels). With Xwayland, what falls outside the bounding shape is no longer updated in the buffer the compositor shows, so after the shape shrinks or the window grows those areas keep old contents or stay black. For a surface with an alpha channel (ARGB visual) the bounding shape is not needed to show transparency: the alpha already does it. It is still useful for input, so that clicks go through transparent parts. As an experiment, applying the same mask as ShapeInput instead of ShapeBounding for surfaces created with use_alpha makes the panels show correctly (I have not checked yet that clicks go through their transparent part). Windows without an alpha channel would keep the bounding shape. I have only tested Hyprland's Xwayland, not a plain X server or other compositors. I am not attaching that change: it was written with an AI assistant, which the Developer FAQ does not accept. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 60555] New: winex11.drv: OpenGL child window rendered offscreen shows the previous frame until the application presents again (EGL, Xwayland)

by WineHQ Bugzilla

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60555 Bug ID: 60555 Summary: winex11.drv: OpenGL child window rendered offscreen shows the previous frame until the application presents again (EGL, Xwayland) Product: Wine Version: 11.20 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: alessandro.abbinante(a)live.it Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- An application that draws its OpenGL viewport in a child window and only redraws on input (Autodesk Fusion 360) always shows the frame before the last one. Hovering a vertex or face draws the highlight, but it only appears on screen when the next input (a click, the wheel) makes the application present another frame. A rubber-band rectangle stopped halfway lags one step behind the cursor. Reports from other users with the same symptom on AMD and NVIDIA cards: https://codeberg.org/cryinkfly/Autodesk-Fusion-360-on-Linux/issues/686 Environment: Arch Linux, wine 11.20 (Arch package), winex11.drv with the default EGL backend, Hyprland 0.56 with Xwayland 24.1.14, NVIDIA RTX 5080 with driver 615.78. What I observed: - With WINEDEBUG=+timestamp,+wgl and the cursor position logged on the same clock: while the cursor rests on a vertex for 4 seconds there is no GL call at all. The application had already drawn and swapped the frame with the highlight on the last mouse move, but the screen shows the frame before it. - Not affected by __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0 or by UseEGL=N (GLX path; this driver has no GLX_OML_sync_control). I have only tested Hyprland's Xwayland, not a plain X server. Analysis (from reading dlls/winex11.drv/opengl.c and init.c at wine-11.20 and current master): The viewport is a child window, so needs_offscreen_rendering() always returns TRUE ("child window, needs compositing") and the client window is redirected. After eglSwapBuffers(), x11drv_egl_surface_swap() only calls XFlush() and then client_surface_present(), which immediately copies the redirected window into the top-level window (X11DRV_client_surface_present -> StretchBlt). Nothing waits until the X server has applied the swap, and with a swap interval of 1 Xwayland applies it at the next frame, so the copy reads the previous contents. The GLX path waits with glXWaitForSbcOML() when GLX_OML_sync_control is available, but the EGL path has no equivalent. As an experiment, making the offscreen swap complete before the copy (swap interval 0 for offscreen surfaces, glFinish() before eglSwapBuffers() and XSync() after it) makes the highlight and the rubber band follow the cursor exactly. I am not attaching that change: it was written with an AI assistant, which the Developer FAQ does not accept. A proper fix probably needs to wait for the presentation to complete, or to copy again once it has. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
