[Bug 58150] New: MusicBee: Inconsistent directory monitoring performance on SMB mounts via CIFS compared to native filesystem (Linux)/SMB mount (Windows)
by WineHQ Bugzilla Sept. 30, 2026

Sept. 30, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58150 Bug ID: 58150 Summary: MusicBee: Inconsistent directory monitoring performance on SMB mounts via CIFS compared to native filesystem (Linux)/SMB mount (Windows) Product: Wine-staging Version: 10.4 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: v_winebugs(a)outlook.com CC: leslie_alistair(a)hotmail.com, z.figura12(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- MusicBee has a feature to continuously monitor the library's directory for any new files that have ended up in the library. On Windows, this is pretty reliable both on native NTFS as well as network drives via SMB. On Linux, however, only the native drive seems to be reliable. With my SMB drive mounted via Linux's CIFS driver, even though performance is good on WINE's built-in file picker as well as KDE Dolphin, the continuous monitor on MusicBee seems to be lacking in performance in comparison to native on Linux and the network drive on Windows. Having 10 albums being scanned and imported into the inbox can take up to 2 minutes if at all (MusicBee will sometimes work, but most times not, you have to restart it to get it to see the files where you don't need to on Windows), while it's basically instant on Windows. Also, sometimes MusicBee's monitor will immediately import the tracks, then think the tracks are gone. Doesn't seem to happen with native drives on Linux, neither does it happen with MusicBee on an SMB setup in Windows. OS is Bazzite 42, WINE Staging 10.4 layered on top, MusicBee version 3.6.9202. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 59016] New: Directdraw games get black screen
by WineHQ Bugzilla Sept. 30, 2026

Sept. 30, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59016 Bug ID: 59016 Summary: Directdraw games get black screen Product: Wine Version: 10.15 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: d3d Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: i(a)xuzhao.net Distribution: --- Created attachment 79755 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79755 Black screen, with directdraw render method Hi Wine Community, I want to ask about a regression I observed on my desktop (openSUSE Tumbleweed, KDE, NVIDIA 3080 Ti). A few old Japanese Galgames have blackscreen starting from a few months ago. To be specific, I am running Ebenbourg no Kaze (by Studio e-go!). The game screen is black, but with `WINEDEBUG=+ddraw` I can see logs being printed out: https://pastebin.com/s5m0i3AK I am testing on other applications, e.g., VisualBoyAdvance (the GameBoyAdvance simulator). I found that when I switch the render method to "DirectDraw" it shows black screen, but when I switch to "GDI", "OpenGL" or "Direct3D", the screen is normal. I have tried changing [HKCU/Wine/Direct3D] -> "renderer" from "gl" to "gdi", but the game/application will crash/black screen. I suspect there is a regression in DirectDraw support in Wine. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 59056] New: Kontakt 8: fails to install: "FALSE"
by WineHQ Bugzilla Sept. 30, 2026

Sept. 30, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59056 Bug ID: 59056 Summary: Kontakt 8: fails to install: "FALSE" Product: Wine Version: 10.19 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: msi Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: mail+winehq(a)astr.cc Distribution: --- Created attachment 79824 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79824 install traces for both kontakt 7 and 8 When trying to install Native Instruments' Kontakt 8 (both full and Player), the installer fails with the error "The Native Instruments Kontakt 8 Setup has failed: "FALSE". Please check your settings and try again". Kontakt 7 (Player), which uses a nearly identical installer setup (InstallAware Wizard-based), installs just fine. The Player version is free, but requires going through the Native Access download manager (which itself is annoying to get working on Wine, see AppDB): https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-8-… I'm working with these binaries: 73632dc3fa6ac54365ca9c3f892083598fd42c72 Kontakt 7 7.10.9 Setup PC.exe c71edf4f829dc3cbf34a92d152cccbb6092c5666 Kontakt 8 8.7.2 Setup PC.exe I've attached install logs on a fresh prefix with WINEDEBUG=+msi,+msidb,+warn for both 7 and 8 so you can look at the differences. Notably, it seems like the .msi file by Kontakt 8 extracted to C:\Windows\Installer is malformed in some way - trying to open it with msitools yields "Table size is invalid 148/3" when loading _Tables (and this is in the Wine logs as well), and real Windows agrees with this. The string pool seems to have a lot of empty(?) entries at the end (see string_totalsize traces), which for 8 is enough to push it past the 2^16 threshold in msi_save_string_table (https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/4dfbf077cf708e4bbffa8e086d78d665…) This then makes the _Tables table fail to load. If I run the installer in a windows VM, the dropped .msi file won't have the blank entries at the end, and will install correctly (with a string pool size of ~50k rather than ~80k). I'm not sure what's causing the extra entries and whether *that's* the bug, or if it just needs to be saved differently? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 59067] New: some Unreal Engine games don't render correctly with opengl renderer
by WineHQ Bugzilla Sept. 29, 2026

Sept. 29, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59067 Bug ID: 59067 Summary: some Unreal Engine games don't render correctly with opengl renderer Product: Wine Version: 10.20 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: d3d Assignee: wine-bugs(a)list.winehq.org Reporter: galtgendo(a)o2.pl Distribution: --- Created attachment 79840 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79840 console output for vulkan To start off, this seems to be an engine problem as I've seem this in at least 2 UE games. So, I'll be attaching two short logs from one of the games - one for opengl renderer, where the problem can be seen and one for vulkan, where it seems to display correctly. The problem is that the scene is rendered dark with opengl - not sure if it's missing textures, bad lightning or something else. Another one of those games is 'Last Hope' by Poolside Games - just start a new game, the bug is - let's say 'difficult to miss' within first 15 sec. of gameplay. It's on steam, but there were free releases of that one too. PS: unrelated problem - both of the games I'm testing this problem with also turn off my secondary screen at termination...for no apparent reason, as I'm running them windowed anyway. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
