Afterwards: 'winetricks corefonts cjkfonts dotnet48' (Both corefonts and dotnet48 are neccessary. cjkfonts is optional for EULA text) to install dependencies. The program starts, but unfortunately it crashes as soon as I create an AI track. Adding dotnetdesktop6 or 8, d3dcompiler_47, mf, quartz, win10 using winetricks, did not work. Bug Three - The program fails to load the demo set that usually loads after the initial install. Game runs fine for long periods, and produces some of these messages below during its run. At some point, the game intermittently hangs, with the hang not being necessarily coincident with any one particular message. It just sort of eventually, intermittently, hangs in the middle of a perfectly good run. Sometimes the game hangs very frequently (after only a few seconds of play) and sometimes it can run successfully for 30 minutes or more without a hang. The hang manifests itself as this: The graphics hang first. The game screen freezes and all of the pixels stay on the screen, unchanging. The game audio continues playing without any hitches or glitches, including, continuing to successfully play background music or long dialogue sequences without stopping. Sometimes, if the hang occurs while the character has an interaction prompt, there may be a brief window where you can still press the interaction button and hear the response audio from having pressed the button, but only the first instance of interaction, after that, nothing more is allowed and the game is truly hung. The console output stops updating, and the game's own "Hades2.log" file stops updating. The following console messages are seen in the console output. But the whole point of Wine is to run games in places they weren't originally intended to run, and amazingly, in this particular case, it actually works. When Crossover 26 was released (including Wine 11.0, and whatever version of vkd3d is included with those two things), it runs Hades 2. I can sometimes play for long periods of time without troubles, there's just the occasional random hang that would be very nice to be able to fix. I wonder if this particular configuration is helping to surface some rare edge-case bugs in vkd3d? Any help or advice would be gleefully accepted. In particular, I'd like to know if there's any way to get more detailed VKD3D logs out of Crossover? I'm attaching a console log output but it's not particularly detailed. Also in the game's installed files, in the Hades2/Content/Shaders folder, there are a bunch of plain-text files, and I wonder if editing any of those could simplify the D3D12 calls and prevent the hangs. Software and hardware information: Game: Hades 2 version 1.133066 The messages, and the hang issue, occur equally in the Windows Steam version of the game, or the Windows Epic Games version of the game. The Epic Games version can run directly without a launcher, without Epic or Steam in memory. As I check the console output, I get *massive spam* of the following message: err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x8aea440: "GL_INVALID_OPERATION error generated. Query object not found.". It repeats over and over again until I need to kill the executable. The latest log file I saved, I counted that this error message was repeated over 18.3 MILLION times (yes, you read it right), making the log file itself almost 2GB at size. Only, and only this single message was repeated, nothing else. Console output before the spam was as showed in the attachment. I'm sorry I don't provide the full log, since it contains over 20 000 lines of text. If someone sees that important, please let me know. Basically, the lines showed in the attachment were repeated over and over again from the very beginning, until the massive spam of that 'GL_INVALID_OPERATION' error appeared just before the game were accessing in-game menu which contains DX11 graphics. Used configuration: Wine 2.4 git + Wine-staging-git, no dll overrides, clean 64-bit prefix. No CSMT or any other Staging related stuff enabled in winecfg. It installs on Windows and Wine with the exe header flag indicating it can use more the 2GB of memory. In Windows this can cause the program to declare it is out of memory on occasion. Under Wine this "out of memory' happens frequently. When that happens it is fatal in that any attempt to save the work or exit the program fails wit hthe "out of memory" error. I mention this because I modified the iedit.exe as follows: I flipped the File Header bit on iedit.exe to limit it 2GB. That seemed to solve the out of memory issue on both Windows and Wine. This setting is saved in the registry: `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Activision\Spider-Man (TM) SD\Settings\Display\AspectRatio` 1 for 4:3, 2 for 16:10, 3 for 16:9. ### What the game is supposed to do (first launch) On Windows and on Wine Wayland, when launching the game for the first time (that is, when the registry key doesn't exist), that key is `NtSetValueKey`ed to 4 (a value that seems intentionally invalid), then it is `NtSetValueKey`ed to the appropriate value. ### What happens instead on Wine X11 (first launch) On Wine X11 (or XWayland), `NtSetValueKey` for "AspectRatio" is only called once to set it to 4, and it stays as such. (Which makes the game 4:3.) That probably means that whatever the game needs to do before the second `NtSetValueKey` fails. #### Symptoms of the issue You may wonder: "Since the Aspect Ratio option is exposed in the in-game settings, can't you adjust them there?". However, due to the game being poorly coded, this issue may make the game stuck in an unsupported resolution, causing a chain reaction of issues that makes the game unable to change all graphics settings, and sometimes it even makes the game unable to render the title screen, crashing when starting a level. Manually editing the "AspectRatio" key after the first launch doesn't solve all issues: it may still be impossible to change all graphics settings. This probably means that the game depends on "getting" the display's aspect ratio even if the registry key is set. ### Logs I don't know what channels should the logs contain. And because there is a fading animation playing, it leaves the desktop with a dark tint, I have to reboot my computer. I also tried with wine-staging 11.0, 11.1 and 11.2, it also has the bug. Previously, the IDE displayed its editors and views as tabs within a single main window (similar to applications like Visual Studio Code). After the update, these tabs are now opened as separate top-level windows instead of being embedded as tabs in the main application window. This behavior only occurs when running the application with Wine. On native Windows systems, the IDE still behaves correctly and shows tabs as expected. Expected behavior: Editors and views should be displayed as tabs within the main IDE window, as before the update. Actual behavior: Each tab is opened as an individual window, breaking the intended tabbed workflow and making the IDE difficult to use. Regression: Yes. The tabbed interface worked correctly with earlier versions of the IDE under Wine. The issue appeared immediately after the vendor updated the application. Additional notes: The application is proprietary, so source code is not available. The issue seems related to how the updated IDE handles tabbed/docked windows or window embedding under Wine. Click next. Now The installer shows an orange box. The installer beeps when the mouse is clicked outside of the orange box.
