[Bug 59397] WinSpy controls have black background

This hack responds to a WM_PRINTCLIENT of the dialog "#32770" hwnd by drawing solid yellow. The problem seems to be autohotkey creates a window with CreateDialogIndirect. In themed environment it then creates a brush from a bitmap filled by a WM_PRINTCLIENT message. Unfortunately this bitmap is never changed and therefore still holds the default "black" from NtGdiCreateBitmap. So someone has to do something with the WM_PRINTCLIENT message. The "system window manager" would be called "compositor", and wheter it supports server side decoration is up to its own decision, since the (unstable) protocol for implementing it is optional. Therfore, not all compositors support it: https://wayland.app/protocols/xdg-decoration-unstable-v1#compositor-support Specially the gnome world (mutter) seems to insist on decorations being done client side. So wine could only use that protocol if the compositor supports it. It has to implement supplying windows applications which expect to be decorated with client side decorations in any case for compositors that don't, and that always can be used, even if the compositor would support xdg-decoration. This differs from native MSVCRT behavior and from other C libraries (glibc, etc) which handle this correctly. (Vanilla Wine crashes on launching Immortals Fenyx Rising, so I had to use derivatives like tkg.) Tested both No sync and NTSync. The way audio goes out of sync is pretty consistent between attempts (with the same setup). While I don't appear to have this specific sha1sum version from 2024, I have a version from 2023 (version 2.12.0.20) and another from 2025 (version 2.14.0.57) and both do not show any window unless I install WebView2. I even grabbed a copy of Wine 9.7 from https://github.com/Kron4ek/Wine-Builds/releases/tag/9.7 and it behaves the same with these versions of the installer. I also tried creating the prefix with WINEARCH=win32, but it made no difference. Is there any chance you had some stuff in your prefix when you tested it? Some Adobe Creative Cloud applications (at least Adobe Express Photos and Adobe Fresco) need appxbundle support to install. Currently they crash earlier in the process due to a missing PackageFullNameFromId implementation, but when including the implementation from Proton, they fail to install the appxbundle. The application displays the Quicken splash screen briefly, then freezes. Wine reports a failure loading a typelib: err:ole:TLB_ReadTypeLib Loading of typelib L"C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\QWUTIL.tlb" failed with error 2 The file QWUTIL.tlb is not present in the original Quicken 6 installation media or directory. Only qwutil.dll exists. Older Wine versions (≈10.x) were able to run Quicken 6 without this TLB file. Manual registration attempts fail: regsvr32: 'DllRegisterServer' not implemented in dll 'qwutil.dll' This suggests Wine 11 now requires a typelib for COM/OLE registration that Quicken never shipped, causing a regression for this application. Steps to Reproduce: Install Wine 11.x (staging or stable) on Fedora Linux. Create a default WoW64 Wine prefix: WINEPREFIX=~/wine/quicken6-wow64 wineboot Install Quicken 6 (32-bit) into the prefix using the original installer. Verify that qw.exe is installed at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\qw.exe Launch Quicken: WINEPREFIX=~/wine/quicken6-wow64 DXVK_DISABLE=1 \ wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\qw.exe" Expected Result: Quicken 6 launches normally and opens its main application window. It is a rather dark image, but those 'stitches' can be made out. If you rename Slide_012.bmp to Slide_000.bmp in the AutoRun directory, you can reproduce the same image the bug reporter showed during installation. If I load the .bmp image in an image viewer like IrfanView or FastStone, those stitches are not present.
