Tested 10022 against offending foobar2000 build, now works properly, so it's fixed from my point of view. I have been probing how MS gdiplus DLL handles different combination of flags, but it looks like flags=0 case works by accident there - passing ImageLockModeUserInputBuf alone isn't letting me write. But even after applying dumb hack below, I get a message "Interface not supported". And the GUI main area is white, which I guess is not right... Copy/paste from bug 58961: The access violation is just after failing call to SHGetImageList. The hack below makes the program start for me ( SHGetImageList is called with iImageList = -1) . I don't know how to fix this bug, maybe one of the devs might know what's going on. The application launches, audio plays, windows appear, but no UI content is visible. Affected configurations: Native Wayland (winewayland.drv) XWayland Multiple Wine versions tested (11.x, custom builds) WebView2 runtime: 109.0.1518.78 Download link: https://superwhisper.com (free trial available) Root Cause Analysis Extensive debugging (50+ experiments) traced the failure to Wine's D3D11 shared texture and DirectComposition implementation. Impact This likely affects all WebView2-based Windows applications: Electron apps using WebView2 backend Tauri apps Native Windows apps embedding web content Any Chromium-embedded application using DirectComposition WebView2 adoption is growing rapidly, so this gap will affect an increasing number of applications. When instead I replicate the old staging patch (and with wine-staging 8.15) the game is fluid. That patch alone is however not correct, as the music of the main menu continue in loop even in the game. (I tested with 8.15 staging too). Also replicating the patch is causing the game to crash when starting dialogues, probably an interaction between old patch-new code I don't fully consider.
