I just realized I reversed the videos : windows_bug8 show the behaviour of wine and wine_bug8 the behaviour of windows. There was 2 child windows : one that can be maximized and the other not. If I maximized the one and switch to the other, this other one should not be "maximized". Exact failure scenario varies between configurations - 32bit/64bit, static/DLL runtime. Sighted: crashes, E_INVALIDARG, nonsensical values given by Gdiplus immediately after using Windows Imaging. This program - as far as I know - never fails on actual Windows machine, unless somehow entirely missing JPEG decoder. I am on Ubuntu 24.04 (openssl 3.0.x) I use official wine stable 11.0 I created a new prefix and installed dotnet 6, dotnet 8, dotnet 9. I installed a tool that runs "dotnet build". dotnet downloads nuget packages. dotnet checks with the root certificates and finds the timestamp is outdated (NU3037 and NU3028). I found out that dotnet does not use Linux root certificates for verification but the root certificates managed by crypt32. I opened up control.exe and checked the certificates. Here I found no root certificates. I tried to convert certificates with openssl from Ubuntu from api.nuget.org directly (pem format -> cer format). The import mechanism of the root certificates fails with "unknown format". My question is: How do the cer format differ between openssl and the format that is used by wine for importing root certificates? The reason is simple. In programs/explorer/systray.c:initialize_systray show_systray is set to FALSE (because of show_systray = arg_show_systray && !arg_enable_shell; where arg_show_systray = 1 and arg_enable_shell = 1). After this initialize_systray calls do_show_systray once. Because of show_systray is set to FALSE do_show_systray is no longer called in shell_traywnd_proc in WM_DISPLAYCHANGE handler. This works perfectly fine when Wine's virtual desktop feature is not used (as long as the desktop environment or compositor supports the _NET_WM_WINDOW_OPACITY window property), but turns opaque when the feature is enabled. Steps to reproduce: 1. Inside of Roblox Studio, click on the "Help" menu at the top and then on the "Start Studio Tour" option. 2. Keep clicking the "Next" and "Skip" buttons on the "Topic" window until you get to topic 3 of 7. A Wine wrapper program called "Vinegar" can be used to make the process of setting up Roblox Studio a lot easier. Imperium use Wave audio, and it's supposed to be implemented. And in fact audio fully worked on wine-staging 8.10 (first checked) until 8.15 (last working version available on the arch repo, these version doesn't seems to be compilable, maybe require an older version of some toolchain component), while the sucessive version available on the arch repo, 8.18 doesn't work anymore, and this match with the disabling of dmime-load-wave from staging, as it's supposed to be included into upstream. However it seems the current upstream is quite differently from the patchset, using wavetracks instead of putting the wave inside a segment. Resulting log shows multiple object interoperating, and dmime have a lot of functions that while having an implementation are still marked like "fixme stub",making it confusing to debug without being familiar. The entire reason this bug is invalid is it only worked due to my applying unsanctioned hacks that has since been removed. The hacks where also applied incorrectly causing additional invalid bug reports. If you read over https://github.com/Gcenx/macOS_Wine_builds/releases/tag/10.13 you'll see I've noted the removal of these hacks being removed as per Zeb. As a premise it is worth noticing that LTspice has always been a wine-friendly application. Recently: - mouse pointer disappears in several dialogs - the application does not recognize when the mouse is hovering certain displayed elements (e.g. after a simulation hovering on a circuit element should change the mouse cursor into a probe, and clicking should produce a plot, but that does not work anymore) - Some windows fail to appear at all (e.g. the spice output log window) All this seen using wine in X11 mode. In Wayland mode there are other issues, but as an X11 application, wine has always worked almost flawlessly with LTspice in the recent years. Unclear to me if the issue follows a wine update, an LTspice update (don't think so) or a Kwin update (I am on KDE plasma). Installing and running on Windows can be accomplished with the following steps: 1. Install Artcut 2009 using the setup executable from the "Artcut 2009" CD. 2. Start Artcut 2009 by running the C:\artcut6\prog\Artcut6.exe program. This results in the initial "About Artcut 2009" dialog box being displayed. 3. Dismiss the about dialog box. The application now displays a dialog box prompt to insert the "Authorization Disc" CD. 4. Insert the authorization CD and press OK on the dialog box. The application exits silently. 5. Launch Artcut 2009 again and dismiss the about dialog box. The application has started successfully if a "Welcome" dialog box is displayed. With Wine 11.1, after installing Artcut 2009 and mfc42 from winetricks, running the application and performing the authorization step for the first time with the authorization CD inserted results in the error dialog box "An unsupported operation was attempted" appearing twice before the application exits silently. Restarting Artcut 2009 results in the same authorization prompt but the application simply exits silently after the prompt for subsequent runs. I have determined why the authorization step in Artcut 2009 on Wine doesn't seem to work out of the box. If I remount the CD with the "showassoc" option (per https://docs.kernel.org/filesystems/isofs.html) then the "Aautorun" directory and DLL file become visible and accessible, and I can then successfully complete the authorization step in the Artcut 2009 application when running on Wine. On Windows, a directory listing of the root of the authorization disc also does not show the "Aautorun" directory, but Windows seems to allow "associated" files to be accessed and opened if they are named explicitly in a path. This is how the authorization logic in Artcut 2009 can work properly when it is run on Windows even when the "Aautorun" directory is not visible in Explorer. I'm not sure there is much Wine can do to precisely emulate how Windows handles "associated" files on an ISO 9660 filesystem, especially if there is no way to determine the existence of "associated" files or access them with default mount options, and the practical solution for Artcut 2009 is just to ensure that the authorization disc is mounted with the "showassoc" option. I'm not sure what is the best resolution for this bug, but I will resolve it as INVALID as I don't see that there is any bug in Wine to be addressed for the observed behavior. While most of these are VTuber and there is a lot of sample bias in the VTuber community, I believe this affects all Unity software, and possibly all Mono programs. I think the reason it is notably affecting us VTubers is because: - We often run this software alongside other games which results in far more memory pressure than normal gamers - It's not uncommon for us to run these programs for many hours compared to most games which you run for a few hours and quit - The memory allocation patterns are far more aggressive than most games because unlike games which have predictable scripted animations and physics, VTuber software is animating based on tracking data parsed in realtime and user-controlled integrations and scripts. - Most VTuber models are extremely unoptimized compared to normal game assets. An error message appears stating "A debugger has been found running in your system please unload it from memory and restart your program." It seems to effect Wine version 10.0.
