My workground: # as root cd /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/USB-Audio/Sony/ mv DualSense-PS5.conf DualSense-PS5.__conf__ mv DualSense-PS5-HiFi.conf DualSense-PS5-HiFi.__conf__ # as normal user systemctl --user stop pipewire-pulse.{socket,service} systemctl --user stop pipewire.{socket,service} systemctl --user start pipewire.{socket,service} systemctl --user start pipewire-pulse.{socket,service} Then everything is ok. In march 2026, Wine upgraded to 11.4. I found that when aloy performed a forward roll without vibration(hatpics) on Horizon Forbidden West(EpicStore Version, referred to hfw, URL: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/horizon-forbidden-west-complete-edition) on focus mode, the sound came from pc speaker, not dualsense speaker. at the same time, i noticed only 2 audio channels of hfw in gnome -> settings -> sound -> volume levels So, i rolled back to Wine 11.3, all issues disappeared. This week, Wine upgraded to 11.5, no help. Much less clear what cipher 23 is supposed to be, but in GnuTLS it matches GNUTLS_CIPHER_CHACHA20_POLY1305. When modern cross-platform engines (specifically Unreal Engine 4/5, e.g., Borderlands 4) attempt to launch background update scripts via cmd.exe /c, they frequently pass un-sanitized, mixed-slash paths (e.g., C:/users/.../PersistentDownloadDir/GbxRelaunch.bat). Because wcmd evaluates the slash as an invalid switch (e.g., /users), the execution fails instantly with an unrecognized command error. This breaks automatic game restarts and hotfix pipelines for numerous titles. (See attached terminal_output.txt for the exact error). Proposed Solution: Introduce an opt-in registry toggle within the AppDefaults hive that allows wcmd to sanitize forward slashes to backslashes for specific calling executables before parsing. * Registry Key: HKCU\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\[CallingProcess.exe] * Proposed Value: "CmdForgiveSlashes"="1" (String or DWORD) * Behavior: When wcmd is spawned, it checks the AppDefaults of the parent process. If the flag is present, a lightweight sanitization routine converts / to \ in the execution buffer before the standard wcmd parsing logic takes over. Architectural Rationale & Preempting Regressions: * Zero Regression Blast Radius: By defaulting to strict legacy parsing and requiring an explicit AppDefaults override, there is zero risk to legacy enterprise scripts, background redistributables, or unrelated software within the same WINEPREFIX. The execution state remains entirely deterministic. * Avoiding Hardcoded Hacks: This prevents the need to continuously merge game-specific string exceptions into the core wcmdmain.c codebase as new games release. * Empowering Downstream Wrappers: Native Windows cmd.exe occasionally relies on undocumented, dynamic heuristics to successfully execute these mixed-slash paths. Perfectly cloning those undocumented heuristics in wcmd is dangerous for legacy stability. Exposing this registry hook gives downstream maintainers (like Proton and CrossOver) a safe, standardized way to configure the environment via their own application profiles without patching Wine's core C code. For example, on a 16-core host with a container limited to 2 CPUs via "docker run --cpus=2", GetSystemInfo still reports 16 processors. Steps to reproduce: 1. Run Wine inside a Docker container with CPU limits: docker run --cpus=2 <wine-image> wine cmd /c "echo %NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS%" 2. Observe that the reported processor count matches the host, not the cgroup limit. Expected results: The processor count should reflect the cgroup CPU limit (2 in this example), consistent with the behavior of `nproc` from GNU coreutils (version >= 9.8). Actual results: The processor count matches the host machine's total CPU count (e.g. 16). This affects applications that scale their behavior based on the reported processor count. Yomawari: Lost in the Dark (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1998330/) for instance, shows significant performance degradation when run in a CPU-limited container. Hot-patching GetSystemInfo to return the cgroup-limited CPU count resolved the issue, suggesting the game relies on this value to determine its thread count or workload distribution. Wine's `init_cpu_info()` in dlls/ntdll/unix/system.c uses `sysconf(_SC_NPROCESSORS_ONLN)`, which returns the host CPU count and does not account for cgroup v1/v2 CPU quotas (`cpu.max` / `cpu.cfs_quota_us`).
