In another attempt to check the state of msys2 or cygwin I found following issue trying to update a msys2-64 installation: # LANG=C pacman -Suy :: Synchronizing package databases... ... warning: could not remove lock file /var/lib/pacman/db.lck error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database) error: could not lock database: File exists ... On the command line, these repeated lines appear: 0188:err:virtual:allocate_virtual_memory out of memory for allocation, base (nil) size 003f4000 before: 0188:err:msxml:node_clone Copy failed The software is 32bit. It uses separate xml files to store e.g. the (new) albums and their images. The software runs smoothly with small datasets but the actual database contains 100s of albums which likely explains the memory issue. However, it does not occur (yet) under Windows 10. The computer has 4 GB of RAM. free -m -c 100 shows the decrease in free memory while the swap space (4 GB) does not change. Unfortunately, the software is not officially available anymore but I could provide a copy of the program folder if required. The output of lsb_release -a: No LSB modules are available. I don't know if this same problem happens in other non-Delphi editors or not. To see the problem, download the TRichViewDemosSetup.exe from the link above. After running the setup program, execute the ActionTestUni.exe ScaleRichView demo program in the ActionTests/ScaleRichView directory. The program will automatically load with a sample document. Notice that the document is not word wrapped. If we try to run @ฺxฺ through, ScriptItemize (usp10.c) will break the string into 2 runs, one containing latin "x" and one containing the thai marks. See this line from GPOS_apply_MarkToMark: mark2_index = GSUB_is_glyph_covered((const BYTE*)mmpf1+offset, glyphs[glyph_index - write_dir]); When the run containing only the thai marks is passed here, the glyph_index (unsigned int) is evaluated to 0, and since thai is a LTR language, write_dir (signed int) is set to 1, resulting in 0 (unsigned) - 1 (signed). Since the 0 is unsigned the result would be an underflow and the program trying to evaluate glyphs[4294967295], causing the segfault in the attachment. It's likely that GPOS_apply_MarkToBase and GPOS_apply_MarkToLigature have similar assumptions that marks will never be alone in a run and/or set to the 0th position of the run's array. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
