Some "good" news (for repro and testing, at least) - I can confirm that the bug can be reproduced in Wine 11.12 using Notepad. Change the font and set style to Italic or Bold Italic. You can increase the size to make it easier to see. Selecting the text from right to left can reveal further character/glyph clipping.
