I noticed that wine boot takes a long time on my machine. Being curious I ran perf (see flamegraph screenshot) on it and saw that most of the time (almost 16s) is spent during load_init_registry_from_file. I was wondering whether there is a faster way to deserialize the registry. I built wine from source 607d214b9b33be8ee7377f194a98c01a36af803c (2026/04/05) using `./configure && make -j20`. Install TortoiseSVN in a 64-bit wine prefix. 2. Try to run TortoiseMerge.exe with the wine prefix mentioned in step 1. For example, run "wine TortoiseMerge.exe" from a terminal if the default wine prefix was used. Current behavior: TortoiseMerge closes before showing a window. No TortoiseMerge window appears. Expected behavior: TortoiseMerge is expected to start, allowing the user to compare and merge files in a windowed GUI. Additional information: A download for the current version of the TortoiseSVN installer as of this report is at https://osdn.net/projects/tortoisesvn/storage/1.14.1/Application/TortoiseSV… A log showing terminal output when trying to run "wine TortoiseMerge.exe" is attached. Opinion: This is one of 2 bugs preventing using TortoiseSVN fully in wine. The other is 50756. If these 2 bugs are fixed, TortoiseSVN could be used fully, easing the transition of users whose jobs rely on SVN to Linux. Currently some companies still use SVN and I've tried all the free SVN clients for Linux, and none of them come close to the level of convenience and intuitiveness that TortoiseSVN provides. I have nemo actions ready to enable full usage in of TortoiseSVN in Linux if these 2 bugs are fixed. This would help me personally tremendously, as digging through old revisions in alternate SVN branches is part of my job and extremely difficult with any SVN client other than TortoiseSVN using TortoiseMerge. If I then attempt to reinstall the game, I get an error saying "Error: -1627 Function failed". The problem is in the main/postprocess/rebase directory, where it tries to rebase binaries, ultimately calling C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Bin\rebase (from the Windows SDK), which tries to call the unimplemented function imagehlp.dll.ReBaseImage64, which causes a crash during the build. Since rebasing is just done for better performance, it's not critical and can be worked around by commenting out the relevant makefile command. Still, Wine should ideally support this API, and it's good to document applications that need it. And it is remarkable that Wine works so well, when building a project with ~70000 C++ files, 12 million lines of code, 37 external libraries, code generation during the build, calls to many Cygwin tools and Perl scripts, Java and Ant, .NET tools, and lots more. The issue started when I updated to 11.0 (I skipped rc5). Steps to reproduce in clean prefix (wineboot --init, no overrides, no env vars): 1. Install base DAZ Studio 4.24.0.4 (no content needed). 2. Launch DAZ. 3. Window → Workspace → Select Layout... → Cancel 4. Try to open Window menu again → menu does not appear (click has no effect). Log (+err,+warn,+qt,+focus,+menu,+popup) shows: - First menu open: system popup created (e.g., 0x10262/0x10264), all standard items inserted (&Restore, &Move, etc.), NtUserThunkedMenuInfo applied, default set, get_menu_state checks. - Dialog close: NtUserDestroyMenu destroys popup handles. - Second (and third) menu attempt: identical creation cycle (new handle, items inserted again, etc.). - But no MapNotify/Expose/visibility events for the second popup — menu never appears on screen. Setup: - Wine: wine-11.1 (apt install --install-recommends winehq-devel) - OS: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon X11 w/ all latest updates applied - GPU: NVIDIA 590.48.01 driver - App: DAZ Studio 4.24.0.4 base install Tested: - Compositing off - Virtual desktop on/off - Qt env vars (QT_X11_NO_MITSHM=1, QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0) - Windows version change (10 -> 7) - Focus mode switch (from sloppy to click and back) - No DLL overrides or custom env vars in clean prefix I then ran my test again with WINEDEBUG='+err,+warn,+qt,+focus,+menu,+popup' to produce the attached log. Roblox Studio appears to output Vulkan-related errors when this occurs. Something noteworthy is that this only occurs under winex11 and not winewayland, so I'm not sure which Wine component to blame here. Steps to reproduce: 1. Change the Graphics Mode to Vulkan (File > Studio Settings > Rendering), then restart Studio. 2. Open the Baseplate template. 3. Press Ctrl+I and insert a Script (this will create a new tab within Studio). 4. The error I get looks a bit misleading: a Prism window gets opened saying that "There is not enough memory for normal operations. Please close other programs or exit Graphpad Prism..." I attach the wine command output while reproducing the problem... but I think that errors are not related with this issue (maybe they are more related with a rendering issue with the icons).
