it is probably unrelated to 1894, just the same symptoms.

how much memory does this machine have?
does behaviour change if as root you do:
echo -n 1 > /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory
and try again?

Yes, it still crashes but afair from a discussion with Lionel Ulmer on
wine-devel (can't find it anymore) this shouldn't have worked before either.
This seems to be a bug from the category: "Doctor, if i do this it hurts.",
"Then stop doing it." You can probably close the bug.

I have the same problem. Please mark bug 1894 as a duplicate, I must have
missed this one before filing.

It certainly seems a lot better these days (although currently the last column
is not being handled; I might have a look at it when I get time but don't hold
your breath)

By the way, it's acting kind of funny. The newest installation (wineinstall)
from CVS created a c folder in my home directory, but create a config file, so I
used winesetuptk, which made fake_windows in my .wine folder. When I installed
a program, it put it in the fake_windows folder, but there's some kind of
installShield folder in the C directory. Is this a problem? Is the setup
wacked? Why didn't wineinstall create a config in the first place?
