Using 2004-08-13 (the latest), I can see some improvement: The main window comes up and looks quite ok. I don't know whether the problem is fixed or some other functionally is broken (starting another taskbar-swollowed program), but at least it is an improvement. Maybe this bug should be CLOSED. After upgrading from xfree86 version 4.3 to X.org 6.7 the DRI (Direct Render Interface) didn't allow my user applications (wine, etc) to gain direct access to the excelleration hardware, but only to applications initiated by user 'root'.
