Hi, this is how i got it up using current cvs:
Set version to Xp and install it;
Copy native ole32 and usp10 to system folder.
Copy a bunch of fonts from my windows partition to
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts(not sure what font it really needs)
Run with:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10,msvcrt=n" wine /root/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
Now i can see the problem described in this bug. It looks to me that the only
error is, is that the image is at the wrong coordinates, thus covering the
menus. Somehow i have the feeling this shouldn't be too diffcult to fix. Any
comments /hints how to debug it? (PS Seems to me an open-gl error.

GoogleEarth
Somehow i got it working now with
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10,msvcrt=n" wine /root/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
Now there's another bug : the menus are covered by the image of the earth, and
the
image of the earth is , i think at the wrong place (should not be in the left
side, see screenshot). Furtheremore: if i click for example on London, i
"travel" to another place (somewhere in the atlantic ocean) so looks as if the
image should really be shifted to the right. Anyone an idea?

oh, and got a bit further again using native wininet:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10,msvcrt,wininet=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
Now the program doesn't crash anymore but shows the attached screen. In the
console i see:wine: Call from 0x7fcbbe0c to unimplemented function
ws2_32.dll.getaddrinfo, aborting

Ok, i got a bit further now. There seem to be quite some bugs here. This is what
i did:
TO INSTALL
rm -rf .wine
winecfg: set version to XP
wine GoogleEarthSetup.exe
Although it pops up a window complaining about not finding psapi (just click OK)
the installation seems to go fine.
TO RUN
If just run without native dlls it just hangs as described above.
Next:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Google/Google\
Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
Now i get the opening splach screen, than hangs again with:
fixme:uniscribe:ScriptItemize L"Options not
available.",22,255,(nil),(nil),0x7fa5eec4,0x7fa5f6f8
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 0 bytes in thread 0009 eip 7bee1cd3 esp
7f961000 stack 0x7f960000-0x7fa60000
So seems to hang because of unimplemneted things in usp10
Next:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
An error box shows up with no text. I click OK. It crashes with:
wine: Call from 0x7fccbe0c to unimplemented function msvcrt.dll._wctime, aborting
Next:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10,msvcrt=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
It starts up , shows a totally scrambled screen and than segfaults:
A lot of these:

Any hints how to proceed further?
(PS the bug described in the title seems thus to be an ole error , so i'll
change the component)

You need to download Rice's plugin manually. You can get to it from the plugin
link on the main page, but here's a link to the one I have:
<http://www.emutalk.net/graphic-plugins/26237-rice-video-6-1-0c.html>. Extract
it into Project 64's plugin directory (and don't forget to move the DLL it
tells you to).
I still haven't managed to get input working. However, it seems sound
sometimes does work. In one game (Starfox 64), with the default DirectSound
plugin the console window starts flooding with "fixme:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne
problem with underrun detection" messages, and if the console is visible and I
click to minimize it, the sound dies. However if the window was already
minimized and I leave the game going, it seems to play fine. Another game
(Ridge Racer 64) played sound fine with the console minimized for a while, and
then just stopped producing sound.

This was due to an old d3d8.dll.so staying in /usr/local/lib/wine. After wiping
everything related to wine and reinstalling I did not have the d3d8.dll.so anymore.
The main problem (again?) is that a new install leaves old files from a previous
install in place...
Updating a number of other packages allowed me to drop the --without-opengl. Now
I am getting the stencil errors indeed. Because this is a different error I will
close this bug.

Hi, i tried the app, but i get a completely messed up screen as i start to load
a rom. In the console there is, apart from dsound fixmes+errors, a load of this:
fixme:d3d:IDirect3DDevice8Impl_Present Unhandled present options
0x50348814/0x50348804
Furthermore i couldn't find an option for the "Rice's OpenGl " mode , that
you've mentioned. The rom i tried to play was Viper\'s\ Blast_corps.ace. I'm not
sure but
seems to be direct-x bug?
