educational software which appears on the approved
software lists of many elementary schools, and
which have been mentioned as "must-have" applications by
early Linux adoptors on e.g. the k12osn mailing list.
Bugs that belong here are those that prevent further testing
of the affected applications. This does not include minor
problems or problems that don't get in the way of testing.

Summary: Kid Pix Deluxe 4 menus and text entry extremely
unresponsive
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
On a Compaq Presario R3000 laptop with a zippy Athlon 64
running 32 bit Fedora Core 3, Kid Pix 4 installs
reasonably well -- it does put up a dialog box saying
"Requires Internet Explorer", but seems to otherwise
complete installation ok.
When you start the app, it refuses to start unless
it can access the sound card. Wine's error log
says you need to run winecfg and select emulated
sound. Doing so lets you run the app. Basic drawing
works, but the sound is a bit choppy and screwy,
and text entry and especially menus are very
slow and unresponsive.

Running with WINEDEBUG=+module,+seh for catching unhandled exception
The unhandled exception comes up each time the program starts. By capturing the
log I noticed there is a hardcoded default in MOULDE_GetLoadOrderW for
ntoskrnl.exe. So I captured the +module traces along with the +seh.

Summary: Unhandled dwRenderStateType playing DeusEx
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: storri(a)torri.org
Found that I got error messages trying to play DeusEx that spoke about direct
draw. They were messages saying that certain state types were not handled:
err:ddraw:set_render_state Unhandled dwRenderStateType
D3DRENDERSTATE_LINEPATTERN (0000000a) value : 00000000 !
trace:ddraw:set_render_state D3DRENDERSTATE_MONOENABLE = 00000000
Also others:
err:ddraw:create_dib CreateDIBSection failed!
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {92fa2c24-253c-11d2-90fb-006008a1f441} not
registered
err:region:CombineRgn Invalid rgn=(nil)
You will find a log output from running wine as:
WINEDEBUG=+ddraw,+region,+ole wine DeusEx.exe &>/tmp/ddraw.log
Occassionally, as the attached log captures, I get an unhandled exception.

This bug can be replicated with Filezilla using wine-20050930
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_2_2_16_setup.exe?dow…
1. Install Filezilla
2. FTP into the server of your choice
3. Click and drag files from the server to your local machine (to copy them)
4. Realize now that even though the files have been copied to your machine, you
are still dragging the files around
HELP!!

Summary: Warcraft 3 Installer
Product: Wine
Version: 20050930
Platform: PC
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: walker_643(a)yahoo.com
Given an installation of wine linked to a full win98 partition, mounting
Warcraft3 CD and typing 'wine install.exe' brings up hollow install scren; in
other words, it has a title bar and borders but the client area is transparent;
no contents.
I read in several places that it could be a sound problem (there is a startup
sound for install.exe), so I disabled sound completely via winecfg. Obviously,
this did not solve the problem.
Wine was installed from the FreeBSD ports collection.
