Did you check the checkbox "Allow Pixelshader" in the graphics tab of winecfg?

Also, come to think of it - we have several copies of this particular game as we
bought more than one computer. If it would help, we could donate a copy. Contact
me if so. Thanks.

Summary: Crash: Pixel Shaders 1.1 or greater is needed when
trying to start Thief: Deadly Shadows
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.10.
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=4671
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kristoffer.lunden(a)gmail.com
When trying to run the game Thief: Deadly Shadows, a message box complains about
needing Pixel Shaders 1.1, then the program crashes with a "Unhandled page fault
on read access to 0x00000000". Full output as attachment.
The game installs perfectly, so this is when trying to run it. See linked appdb
entry for more info.

I have the same problem with wine 0.9.11 with Fedora Core 5. Changing from w2k
to nt and back did not help. umounting, adding:
/dev/hdc /mnt/dvd iso9660 user,noauto,ro 0 0
and re-runing winecfg did not help. Problem is on both IDE and USB/SCSI DVD drives.
Having d:: -> /dev/hdc entry in dosdevices did allow to use DVD Shrink in this way:
wine DVDShrink d:
But DVDShrink still did not show any drive under File Open.
DVD Decrypter can not find drive as well.
I posted the bug ad FC5 list and I was told to post it here.

Just wanted to mention that 0.9.11 still crashes when going to the Individual
tab (package 0.9.11~winehq1-1, running under Ubuntu). Is there a way I can
offer a bounty for this app so that it works perfectly under wine?

The controls code is very complex, so I'm not 100% sure I haven't broken
anything. Sumit it anyway?

Looks like this was caused by prelinking leaving /lib/ld-2.3.5.so corrupted.
As described here:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/prelink/+bug/31135/+index
removing prelinking & reinstalling kernel-image-686 and initramfs-tools has
resolved the problem.
