I have been setting my virtual desktop to my screen size and then putting on an empty KDE page. I move the top window bar and move it off the top of the screen so the desktop background fits all on my screen. If you don't slide it off screen things seem to work as desired. Sequence in virtual desktop/ explorer window. 1. click and release on menu item commdlg 2. Move mouse to Open and click 3. Click on Cancel on the file open dialog 4. Start back at #1 5. then #2 and the menu closes and no file open dialog shows. If the virtual desktop in not checked the 1,2,3 sequence works. If you click on menu itme commdlg and release over Open it work in either case. I noticed that in the virtual desktop that when a modal window of an application pops up and you finish and close it a different application dialog box would pop to the front of the z order.
