Product: Wine

Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

I think, this bug exists in all Wine versions 0.9.x. Affected is all menus, game
etc., graphics are repainted randomly. Sometimes is all correct, but sometimes
isn't visible anything, only small parts are repainted correctly under mouse
cursor. See to screenshot, my english is bad, but picture can say all. Btw.
color depth in the picture is reduced.
This screenshot was created after Heroes switched from screen resolution 800x600
to 1280x1024 pixels.

Running Mankind installed in Windows, either with or without setting drive "C:"
(and windir, winsysdir,...) to a Windows partition, with Wine results in Mankind
immediately exiting, with exit code 0.
This and the behavior described above may be part of a "cheat prevention system"
Vibes - and maybe O2Online implemented. Unfortunately they wont comment on that
and how it works.

Summary: Possible filename/-attribute handling problem with

When trying to connect to Mankind's servers, the game checks for updates. this
is unsuccessful and the error message
"Unexpected Error occured while patching Mankind. (A disk error occured or
C:\Program Files\Mankind have been modified by some other software. Please
reinstall Mankind"
is displayed. (Also see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5388).
The application then causes a page fault on exit, see
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4489
Doing a "+file" trace, I found Mankind is looking for files that dont exist:
Mankind.ppf
Mankind.mip
and Mankind.npr (a file Mankind.1.231.238.npr does exist however, so I created a
link to it)
These files are not created during installation.
If I create these files (eg. "touch ..."), the error message changes to:
"Mankind was unable to start: files are missing or damaged. Please install
Mankind again".
The file Mankind.npr is found, but deleted when Mankind launches.
Steps to reproduce:
- install Mankind: (get it from www.mankind.net)
- launch it; doesnt matter wheter from the directory it was installed into, or
from anywhere else.
- click connect (requires a username and password from mankind.net).
