I'll take a look at the patch ASAP, but I first need to verify if it works
correctly with both richedit 1.0 and richedit 2.x mode.
Looks good at a first glance.

The patch looks good and seems to fix the problem. Phil, can you resend it to
wine-patches?

Ohh, thanks. Perhaps this can be clarified in the docs, though? I don't really
think it's known to run it when upgrading.

If it is with any sound app. under wine and with alsa the same as with oss, it's
clearly not a wine problem. Try to verify that it works correctly with a native
linux sound app. . If you need help setting it up resort to the user mailinglist
or the irc-channel. If it is realy a wine bug respond here and __name the app.
you tested with__ .

You need to use 'wineprefixcreate' it does exactly what you are asking for.

After reading comment 3 I decided to experiment.
I removed ole2nls.dll, riched20.dll, stdole32.tlb, and usp10.dll from 'system'
and 'system32'. I added usp10.dll from WindozeXP to 'system32'. I changed to
WinME emulation.
Then when PAF ran I could see text everywhere it should be EXCEPT the
'Individual' tab contents. But all text looked ragged untill changing to Arial
font in 'Preferences'. After diddling the text sizes in 'Dialogs' and 'Notes'
and making them all normal text, editing data became reasonably like it should
be. A few 'fixme' messages were displayed.
I copied riched20.dll from WinXP to 'system32' and fewer messages are displayed:
david@CPQ1265:~/ProgFiles/FamilySearch/Paf5$ wine pstart.exe
__driCreateNewScreen_20050727 - succeeded
__driCreateNewScreen_20050727 - succeeded
david@CPQ1265:~/ProgFiles/FamilySearch/Paf5$ __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 -
succeeded

fixme:htmlhelp:HtmlHelpW HH case HH_UNINITIALIZE not handled.

I'm using 'Virtual Desktop' because it looks nice to me not because I had to.
Looks like we have to mark this one fixed too! ;-) Thanks Mikolaj.
I'll file a bug concerning the total lack of data and text from the Individual tab.

The game now starts, but crashes when one tried to open the game tutorial (the
only menu option that works in the demo version). Will attach log.

Summary: Half-Life 2 runs in only part of screen instead of
fullscreen (no window)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.14.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.strattonbrazil.com/half_life_2.png
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: strattonbrazil(a)gmail.com
When running Half-Life 2 from the command line using the following script:
#!/bin/bash
WINEDEBUG=-all wine C:/Program\ Files/Steam/Steam.exe -fullscreen \
-novid -width 1024 -height 768 -applaunch 220 \
-heapsize 512000 +map_background none "$@"
Half-Life 2 pops up but only in part of the window. The desktop is running at
1024x768 already, but HL2 does not take it all up, and there is no window around
it.
