I have been adviced to the GitWine site. I have successfully downloaded the git sources, however not all needed packages for Debian are mentioned on the site: please, add info about autoconf and asciidoc. I'm connecting thru proxy. Info about exporting proxy settings for system should take place too. I successfully compiled everything. However, the biggest problem is to download local repository. I run git with said arguments, git runs but nothing happens. It seems that my computer dosen't connect. I must use proxy to go to web, so I assumed, that I should use http:// instead of git:// I get error message: http transport not supported, rebuild Git with curl support I cannot find info about compiling git with curl support. As it is I can only move up to 2.4.29 as that is latest patch offered for W4L. I will move to a kernel with patch for NPTL and lose the W4L if need be.
