Summary: Star Trek: Armada does not install
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lukas.middendorf(a)freenet.de
I have tried to install Star Trek: Armada and had to notice, that the installer
crashes immediately after starting it. The demo-installer does not have this
problem (it also crashes but with different output), so it can not be used to
reproduce the problem.
I use Fedora Core 5 with Wine 0.9.17 from Fedora Extras at the moment.

Hi,
I had the same problem and found a solution here :http://forum.sibila.si/
viewtopic.php?t=3072
Just rename Asp32Res.dll to something else e.g Asp32Res.dll_old
It worked for me (I have Wine 0.9.19)

that's very strange...
I would understand that --hash-style=gnu would break things, but not
--hash-style=both. Moreover, winedbg (nor dbghelp) makes use of of .hash
sections in ELF files.
Could you please post both the full output of 'info share' in winedbg, and also
the trace with WINEDEBUG="+dbghelp".
TIA

This bug should normally be fixed in current git tree (as well as 0.9.19)

As the other user said, this is the only major bug remaining that inhibits
Soldat play on Linux.
We have moved to new forums, the link for that thread previously linked is now

although a trash feature has been added to latest wine release, it asks about if
you want to send to trash on delete but them the file is not in the trash of the
OS (eg, ubuntu wastebasket) so i think i've lost files i thought were going to
trash, unless they're somewhere else?

I tried with both ./wine "C:\Program Files\Shadowgrounds Demo\Shadowgrounds
Launcher.exe" and ./wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Shadowgrounds\
Demo/Shadowgrounds\ Launcher.exe and both of them fail.
If I cd into the directory where the exe file is and run either command, the bug
does not appear. I will test on Windows once I get the time.

I am unable to build Wine, unfortunately. When the package for 0.9.19 is available for my distribution, I'll give it a try with that.
(I use Debian unstable, the Ubuntu packages work.)
