i believe this bug should be considered a blocker for wine 1.0. there are a lot
of steam users wanting to use wine, and it would be a shame if they had the poor
experience that this bug leads to.
ivan, i suggest changing the severity to either critical or blocker so that the
wine devs will actually deal with this.

Summary: The Marmot Project's client TheTurtle crashes

Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://marmot.gruk.org/index.php?lang=EN
OS/Version: other

ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
On 5 Aug 2006, in http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=416982,
someone said they could give up windows if only they could
run the Marmot Project's client under Wine. (It takes all kinds.)
The app requires Windows Script Host, else it crashes with
fixme:ole:MkParseDisplayName (0x7fd7b218, L"WScript.Shell", 0x7fb9f6ec, (nil)):
stub.
You can download WSH from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=C71…
Before installing it, also install MFC42.DLL.
Once you've gone to that trouble, the app crashes with

A little digging found that there are three different IIDs for WSH:
F935DC21-1CF0-11d0-ADB9-00C04FD58A0B (IWshShell)
24BE5A30-EDFE-11d2-B933-00104B365C9F (IWshShell2)
41904400-BE18-11d3-A28B-00104BD35090 (IWshShell3)
Dunno if installing wsh screwed up, or if this version of wsh
doesn't provide the old interfaces, or what...

Try using virtual desktop.
Not a blocker - read description.
NOT NEW. Unless someone verifies it.

The same problem occur in the Silkroad Online launcher.
The mouse pointer becomes invisible when it is supposed to change shape from an
arrow to a hand.

After initial loading screen ingame menu should be displayed, but it isn't,
only the mouse cursor is. There are some sounds, when mouse is over some
buttons. Random clicks freezes the whole system (only hard reset helps). The
cpu use is also very high. Console gives a lot of errors:

The error does not pop up in Wine 0.9.19. However, it still seems that wineboot is not actually being called
because:
1. When I select to restart within the installation I get no more output from the terminal.
2. When I select to restart later within the installation and then run wineboot afterwards I get lots of
output from the terminal.
I should not be geting more output in one case but not the other. I should be either getting more output
in both cases or in neither.

And the problem with this is?
Most games _do use_ 100% of CPU. That's what they are games for.

This is a missing feature in wine's explorer, I think.
