This problem occurs when you run the unpatched version (1.0). Also, make sure the patch has all filenames lowercased, some patches have all filenames uppercased and this seems to be giving problems... Unfortunately, libsdl1.2-dev depends on libartsc0-dev, so removing the packages is no solution for me.
