I don't know what you are talking about. I did not delete your submission.
So what you are saying is that using ALSA is linked to it. Ok, but that is not
what bug 3978 says. It says it is caused by a break down of IPC. It happens with
both OSS and ALSA. Also, bug reports are not really for simple suggestions. If
you want to prove why ALSA works and OSS doesn't so we can fix it go right ahead
(in bug 3978). Provide crash info so we can actually fix something. If you want
to make suggestions or test reports go do it in the AppDB, which is what it's
for. We don't want useless info filling up bug reports, because it gets hard to
decipher what is actually correct information.
I referenced bug 3978, which is the actual bug number (this is a dupe). Don't
post in CLOSED bugs.

Err... Sorry about that. I did search for the bug, but I guess not very well.
I thought it was an ALSA bug, but it's something completely else. Sorry again!

Summary: Winecfg dies attempting to access Audio tab in Ubuntu
Dapper release.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.18.
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: munkshibo(a)yahoo.com
Whenever I attempt to play Cavestory, I get no sound at all. So I accessed
WineCFG through the console and tried to access the Audio section. Clicking on
the tab got me this message:
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:456:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file
or directory
Creating link /home/chris/.kde/socket-3rdDementia.
can't create mcop directory
I upgraded from 9.9. earlier today to 9.18., but it was still the same problem.
If any additional information is needed, I'd be glad to help.

The game installs if I skip the system test, so the actual bug is related to the
system test and not msi.
