Summary: Yahoo Messenger 8 doesn't run
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://messenger.yahoo.com/

Severity: normal

Yahoo Messenger 8 seems to install ok -- it wants you to
have the IE6 registry key installed first, but doesn't seem
to insist -- but doesn't run. And it doesn't seem to install
any .exe's, it might be totally implemented as Flash.
During the install there are quite a few errors of the sort

err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {4955dd33-b159-11d0-8fcf-00aa006bcc59} not registered
so it seems clear it wants a bit more than our IE implementation offers.

(I downloaded the app from powerbullet.com.)
On my machine, running today's wine from git, it dies with
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {4955dd33-b159-11d0-8fcf-00aa006bcc59} not registered
followed by a dialog box saying
Error: Access violation at 0x00AA675C (tried to read from 0x00000000), program
terminated.
That class is apparantly Active IMM, which is described here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/misc/AIMM/overview/overview.asp
There are a number of bug reports which boil down to this class missing,
e.g. bug 4054
Try installing IE6, that may come with an implementation of the missing class.

Summary: unable to sign in using skype
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rajeev81(a)ee.iitb.ac.in
I downloaded skype for windows and installed it and executing it using wine.
When I register for a new user, It logs in and works pretty fine. But after
signing out, if I try to login with the registered id, it refuses to accept my
username and password. The error message reads "Your Skype Name and password
were not recognized. Please check and try again." But when I use the same
username and password in Windows, it logins without any problem.

debug output from "wine StarCraft.exe" in the SC directory.
DirectDrawRenderer set to gdi
Apparently it also looks for libraries in all the wrong places, for example it
looks for ddraw.dll in C:\Programme/Starcraft... is that normal? ddraw.dll is
in C:\windows/system32.

here's something very weird: wined3d.dll is not present in my system32 folder.
However I DO have /usr/lib/wine/wined3d.dll.so.
Looks like wined3d.dll wasn't built/created but wined3d.dll.so was. I DID enable
the opengl USE flag in Gentoo (but like I said, I have no 3D hardware.) The only
build log I have is Gentoo's portage log, which logs all output from configure
and make. You want some grep from that? what should I grep for?
Just technically, how is wined3d.dll releted to wined3d.dll.so?
And I did rebuild 0.9.19 with debug enabled, and got a log. I'll create an
attachment.

At work I use a licensed V4.05 with which I've experienced this problem.
Honestly saying I've not tried the 5.21 eval version yet. But I've discovered
some interesting things regarding the problem: the application correctly works
with wine if you start it with
wine keil/c166/bin/l166.exe
or with any shorter command, but with longer ones as e.g.:
~/keil/c166/bin/l166.exe
or
./keil/c166/bin/l166.exe
(which in my case are the same) or anything else longer than the most above
command line the thing doesn't work.
I've tried to copy it to the wine's c: drive and to start it from there with
wine c:/keil/c166/bin/l166.exe
Because of the too long command line the result is the same.
When I run l166.exe under windows the command line length doesn't affect
anything. Nevertheless I can imagine that it's merely about a buffer overflow
bug in the l166.exe application which doesn't cause crash under windows but it
definitely does under wine.
Could you please try this command line story also with the eval version?
