Oh sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, that works. It didn't occur to me to even try
that, since it's not documented.
Maybe this is a docbug then!

Summary: IrfanView 3.9x won't start
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.20.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: antdes45(a)yahoo.ca
I got IrfanView to install successfully with a MS mfc42.dll, but now that it's
installed, I just get an error when I execute it.
When launched from a terminal, I get :
fixme:seh:check_no_exec No-exec fault triggered at 0x401000, enabling work-around
fixme:seh:check_no_exec No-exec fault triggered at 0x4c702b, enabling work-around
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 176 bytes in thread 000e eip 7efa6224 esp
00240f50 stack 0x241000-0x350000
I looked for this error, and it seems that two other bugs for other applications
state the same error and it seems that it's only happening with 2.6.17 kernels.
IrfanView was working before for me. I get this error when running Fecora Core 5
x86-64, and when I run it with FC5 32-bit on an other computer, I just get some
garbage in the terminal.
I tried to run it in Windows 98 and Windows 2000 mode without success. (I get
different garbage on my 32-bit FC5 tho)

Marking fixed then. Whenever someone has the app that really needs CACLS - reopen.

It looks like the current bug is an ole bug. The installer halts in the action
'FindDevStudioPath'. The interesting bits of the log:
0035:warn:rpc:RPCRT4_Receive Short read of header, -1 bytes
0035:warn:rpc:RPCRT4_io_thread receive failed with error 6c0
0020:Call kernel32.RaiseException(800706c0,00000000,00000000,00000000) ret=7e304880

6C0 is RPC_S_PROTOCOL_ERROR and the exception 800706C0 is HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(
RPC_S_PROTOCOL_ERROR ) then:
0035:Call PE DLL (proc=0x8c8277,module=0x8c0000
L"msi2a63.tmp",reason=THREAD_DETACH,res=(nil))
0009:err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"FindDevStudioPath"
returned 1603
I'll try to attach a log.

Installing WMP9 first (both 98SE-2000 and XP versions) does not help. The
WMP10 installer finishes without crashing, but it says the installation
failed, and when I run WMP, it is at version 9.
