Summary: Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 installation program fails to
start
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msxml
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rchayster(a)gmail.com
The setup crashes with some error messages after selecting the language. The
error messages are exactly the same as with Adobe Audition 2.0 installation
(adding bug link to dependency tree). Feel free to vote for both ;)

Sounds like there might be a window hidden behind the splash (a common problem
with Wine). I think running in a virtual desktop solves this problem, or you
can press whatever key combination allows you to move a certain window and move
it from behind the splash screen. Then again, this might not be the problem at all.

One bug/one app per bug report. If you want, you can open another bug and mark
it as a duplicate of this bug to keep track, or your comment will suffice. The
URL needs to point to the download page of the app affected by the bug.

I get this. I think it is Steam using the registry but I don't have anything to back that
up.

This effects Day of Defeat: Source on the intro along with other Source Engine
games.

Summary: Half life 2 based games occasionally do not start due to
registry in use
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P4
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: svdw(a)udel.edu
A lot of times I have to try to start games like Counterstrike: Source, Half
life 2, Day of Defeat: Source multiple times because of this error:
SteamStartup() failed: SteamStarup(0xf,0x0034E064) failed with error 1: The
registry is in use by another process, timeout expired.
I don't know what else would be using the registry, all I use is steam under
wine at the moment.

Yes, the port is blocked--perhaps packets silently dropped. The Wine code needs
to better timeout. Maybe it is not waking up from a select call like the test shows.

I have 256Megs of dedicated graphics memory. And this was the first time
running wine. I do beleive this is a software issue, and not a question of how
well my hardware can perform. And yes I do have an Nvidia card, so the drivers
aren't THAT bad.
