A workaround from bug 3221, winecfg uncheck "allow window manager to control
windows", gets rid of the problem. This is on dapper 2006.06 with the
default (gnome).
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 3221 ***

To quote myself then:
"I also installed fontforge, but it didn't make a difference. If that helps: in
xwine the fonts show up just fine."
I still have it installed. No change to the problem, there still isn't any font
visible in winecfg. And that's also why i asked if this should maybe added as a
new bug instead.

Actually no I can't confirm this. It does not freeze for me at all.
Menu graphics and game are corrupted. But otherwise works fine with current GIT.
If anything, cutseens and videos actually work (in openGL mode they are invisible).

The demo is available in Eidos' site and it will likely reproduce this problem.

Summary: Hitman Contracts hangs when using Direct3D mode
(X11DRV_GetKeyNameText)
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.eidosinteractive.com/downloads/search.html?gm
id=146
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rchayster(a)gmail.com
Hitman Contracts freezes when using Direct3D rendering and loading the game. The
process won't end until it's killed. This does not happen with OpenGL mode.
Console is flooded with the errors like
fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_GetKeyNameText (00000000,0x33f670,256): unsupported key,
vkey=0000, ansi=0000
That's all I can say. I'll upload the full log soon.
