http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commitdiff;h=7942f5a0e4413ef1ec5a7…
start "wine regedit"
Select "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine"
Create a new key:
The key is named "New Key #1" and to be able to rename the new key, the
treeview must be enlarged, until the Horz. Scrollbar is not visible.
When I disable TREEVIEW_HScroll (Line 2763), Regedit works as expected

I ran into same bug using winword; here's a simple patch that prevents the crash
for me at least:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-January/035334.html
Quite doubtful if it will make it into git though...
Maybe you could try if it helps for your app too.

Summary: Rizzoli Larousse fails to start due to X error
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
When trying to run this application it fails with the following:
----------------------------------------
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 879
Current serial number in output stream: 974
----------------------------------------
But Wine doesn't echo any other errors or even notifications. The application
seems to start, the splash-screen comes up, but then the X error appears in the
terminal and the program closes completely.

People keep reporting breakages with FC. These are bugs with FC and not Wine,
they patch the kernel in such ways that it just seems to break Wine for unknown
reasons.
You could on the other hand try updating to some different ATi drivers, as those
have caused similar issues on occasions.
