Maybe problem is in mesa or drivers? (i have problems like that with any game
in wine with new mesa 6.5.2 and drm on my 915GM , in 6.5.1 no errors)

Hi!
I have upgraded the wine to ver. 0.9.30. The installer have the same problem
(Object reference not set), but the terminal output is not the same.

I think this bug should be reconsidered , when you set Wine to emulate Win98 ,
you would expect the system to act like a win98 install and emulate directX 6.1
too , there might be other software acting the same way.
And It sure wouldn't hurt wine to become a better emulator than Windows itself.
You are making astonishing progress 3D - wise and I think it wouldn't be a biggie
to make Wine emulate DirectX 6.1 too.
