Summary: Game "Briscola chiamata doesn't work"
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.29.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: etnablog(a)yahoo.it
Briscola Chiamata is a freeware little windows game that it is downloadable by
this link:
http://www.briscolachiamata.it/download.html
I've tried to copy from my windows2000/system32 directory the following files to
my wine/system32 directory:
nmpapi.dll and comctl32.dll
I've also set comctl32 as native dll and set "windows 2000" to my winecfg.
games regularly starts, and no errors to my shell window.
But all images in game buttons are altered (and no sound..) so the game is useless..
Thanx

I have my doubts whether the lack of Shockwave is the cause. But you could try
going to:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Shockwave…
You can get to there by
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Then clicking shockwave, followed be the "Standalone Installer" link in the
instructions. The downloaded file, Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe, runs fine under
Wine and installs the SwSupport.dll dll into windows/system32/Macromed/Common.
And the TaxCut installer does find it then.
In general, you can find out what DLLs are found by setting the WINEDEBUG
environment variable to +loaddll.
It would be interesting to know what happens next on a real Windows system. On
my Win2000 system, I also get the splash screen, followed by the grey window. So
I am assuming at that point it should attempt to read another file off the CD.
When running the installer, be sure to for change to the CD directory, that is:
cd /mnt/cdrom (or wherever)
and then
wine TaxCut.exe
Some installers are picky about that.
I'll poke around a bit more and see if anything jumps out at me.

Make sure you run Weatherscope with the full path. For the default install
options, this would be:
wine c:\\Program\ Files\\Weathersoft\\Weatherscope.exe
Otherwise, the only reason I can think of it crashing is because you're having
OpenGL problems. For me, Weatherscope runs great under wine 0.9.29 (and earlier).

I have the same problem with the ToneLab SoundEditor application.
This program sends patches from a guitar floorboard to and from the computer to
set a large number of parameters.
What works:
* Dump individual parameters from floorboard to the pc
* Dump one program from the floorboard to the pc
* Write one program from pc to floorboard
What not works
* Dump all programs (2*4*24=192) from floorboard to pc
Then errors as in attachement
