Is the patch committed and/or approved?
If not approved should be non-localized simple patch only to prevent crashing
of many [vb] apps? (I have a program that needs it - tested wine 0.9.47)
Thank you

Ah, indeed. The weird output was caused by running imwheel (to get firefox go
back/forward in history). I disabled that so that I get nice output in xev on
the extra buttons (buttons 8 and 9).
But LOTRO still doesn't recognize them.
I've been trying to find a plain windows executable that simple logs all mouse
events (a xev variant), but had now luck.

Adding to the 1.0.0 milestone. It is a regression, so it should be fixed in
1.0.0.

Sorry, bug 9878 looks pretty messed up. :-P
What's the exact problem tracked in bug 9878? Is it a crash during the very
startup / loading of a Source engine based game, or is it a crash when joining
multiplayer games?
Just to verify that I got your point:
- Source games used to crash and still do in multiplayer when you get hit,
because some icon triggers a problem with Freetype that's actually a bug in
Source which doesn't handle the GetGlyphOutline function properly.
- Crash can be "fixed" by modifying WineEngGetGlyphOutline to return the
hardcoded glyph sizes expected by Source.
- Patch can still be applied to wine-0.9.47, but some completely different bug
(tracked in bug 9878)...
...does also crash Source games when player gets hit in multiplayer?

VxD support will most likely never appear. Also, agreed, the reporter appears
to have abandoned the bug. Reporter, if you disagree, please report back with
a recent Wine, not running in win9x mode.
