When invoking Half Life 2 through the Steam platform, the screen is resized but
the game does not start. Log is attached.

Has there been any further progress on this bug? It seems that this is making
several games completely unplayable, particularly X-Wing Alliance which is the
one I'm interested in.

Confirming. No, it isn't a d3d error, because this game works on windows with
wined3d.

Thanks for your attention to this problem. The bug continues to exist.
I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting the ./.wine folder and
running wineprefixcreate, all to no avail. I am running Fedora 7, the
i386 version.

Confirming. This works fine using only native ole32.dll.
Just before trouble starts there's a call to ole32.CreateDataCache. Guess
something goes wrong there. I'll attach a log

I'm using a nvidia 8600M GT with same driver version, and I get the message
about missing Pixel Shader 2.0 support...
Using Win98 settings, it started btw...

IIRC I have patched Far Cry since then so it must have been fixed somewhere
along the way so I'll close it.
