Summary: Half Life 2 Reflections reversed on real world
reflections option
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.47.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: abc.mikey(a)googlemail.com
The reflections shown in water in game when in 'real world reflections' mode
are reversed on the far side of objects. That is to say that the reflection
starts out quite vague and fuzzy near the object and gets clearer and denser
further away. The whole thing gives the weird impression of there being a
flatter version of the object sat just on the opposite side of the object. The
most obvious example I can think of to demonstrate this is in HL2 Lost Coast
when you are walking along the jetty at the start of the game you can see a
collection of poles (the ones supporting the jetty) out at sea that slowly
become indistinct as they stretch toward the jetty. These poles move rapidly as
you move because they are always trying to stay opposite the jetty poles.
I'm running NVidia drivers 100.14.19. Wine 0.9.46 & 0.9.47 tested with the same
problem. I have tried it with "UseGLSL"="enabled" and
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" with no real difference.
My system is a:
Athlon64 Dual Core 4800,
Corsair 2GB DDR667,
Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS 256MB,
Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty 64bit

Annotated trace
I've installed Civ IV 1.61 + NOCD with wine 0.9.45. Installation worked, but
the program wouldn't start.
Now with 0.9.46, the program still fails to start but with another error
message.
I've included a trace as an attachement. I've also included a screenshot of the
error message that pops up.
I'm running with the lowest possible settings in the games graphics, I have a
256MB graphics card and I've tried to set Video RAM in regedit to both 64MB and
256MB.

Summary: Steam un-minimize animation problem

If I minimize a Steam window using the minimize button on the window, when I
un-minimize it, the moving titlebar animation in KDE goes to the lower-left
corner of the screen instead to the previous position of the window, but the
window appears at the right place. Un-minimize animation works fine if I
minimize the window by clicking on its entry in the toolbar.

Summary: Binary/Text IO in C++ under Wine
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: nmnnotmyname(a)gmail.com
In C++ Input, Wine appears to act weird when reading a binary file as a text
file. In both Windows and Cedega, this condition does not exist. Since i am in
contact with the developer of the program that had this bug, I was able to have
him fix it. Actual code is given here:
ifstream fin(file.c_str(), ios::in | ios::binary); # this works for binary
files in wine, windows and Cedega
ifstream fin(file.c_str()); # this works for binary files in windows and Cedega
The first thing i thought of was in MSVCRT, but i don't know whether or not
wine implements that or it uses the real thing, or by default it uses its own
version. However, I can not trace the actual cause :( I've tried, and i have
the source. Maybe I'm missing it. After all, all i did was a quick scan
through.
I'd also like to note that I believe this is likely an bug by Microsoft:
Perhaps this is because Windows does not make an actual correlation between
binary and text files. I don't really know.
As a final note: I don't know how well Wine handles 64-bit computers (whether
it uses assembly to glue 64-bit wine libraries to 32-bit executables or doesn't
support 64-bit windows/wine libraries and programs or whatever) but i will note
once more this is a 64-Bit computer with 64-bit Sabayon(Modified Gentoo) (But i
did update wine by hand to get the latest version)
