I've never heard of wineprefixcreate!!: I installed wine originally through Gentoo's ebuild. Use bzip2 to make large files smaller. In general, don't compile Wine with -fomit-frame-pointer. Dan, I'm using all builtin wine libraries now, no overrides, why the need for vcredist.exe? Running the installer now does not crash. Now was it wineprefixcreate or vcredist.exe that fixed it?! Extra notes: in the setup I select custom install, installing only MATLAB and Image Processing Toolbox components.
