As the user I will blame wine, and not the application when things don't work. I'm seeing this issue with Steam version of Half-Life 1 and mods. When I hack on the keyboard like a madman it suddenly starts accepting keyboard input. I guess some key or whatever switches focus manually from app to app? Not sure which combination does it though. Thus we have only one comctl32 DLL and always load it. Under Windows XP and newer this entry would cause the application to load comctl32.dll from %systemroot%\winsxs\...\comctl32.dll instead of %systemroot%\system32\comctl32.dll.
