If I remove the InitCommonControlsEx() call, the program will crash on Windows XP. So I tried something else: call InitCommonControls() instead. On Windows XP, the barebone program runs just fine, but on Wine, I get the error message you initially described. (Unless there is a mutual reason for the app to require the extra software. e.g. outlook express won't work without internet explorer) I could understand the need for the Arial font, but not dcom, mfc and ie.
