The next step might be to do WINEDEBUG=+relay wine npWBench.exe EnterprisePortal.rmp > log.txt 2>&1 to see what it was doing when it crashed. You might want to look at hs_err_pid8.log (or whatever) to see if there are clues there. By the way, several bugs in msvcrt that affected Java were fixed recently.
