Yes, then put them in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and run by
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxdiagn=n" wine app_name.exe for example

Right, but since someone had marked it resolved abandoned, I figured it should
still be resolved, and wontfix seemed to be the most applicable resolution,
since nobody right now can pick this up. However, I do agree wholly that it
should be left open, I just didnt want to get told that it should be resolved if
I had left it open..

Upgrade Wine version and try again.
Attach _complete_ terminal output from the program.
The chances are 0 for this program to work on Wine.

Summary: msi automation interface problem
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.37.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: johan.heikkila(a)gmail.com
I am using the latest Wine 0.9.37 (rpm by dag.wieers.com) on Redhat 9.
I am trying to use the new Msi Automation interface. Unfortunately I
cannot find any information on how to setup or use this. This is what I
tried:
I installed wscript to enable vbscript. I have a vbscript that opens
and parses some information from an msi file. This works fine on
windows. In wine, however, the vbscript code runs fine, but as soon as
I call the MSI Automation functions it stops:
wine wscript my_vbscript.vbs
.......
fixme:msi:AutomationObject_GetIDsOfNames Unknown member
L"OpenDatabase", clsid {000c1090-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}
It looks like it cannot call the Automation Object, though my
understanding was by looking at the developers mailing list that it
was implemented. Is there something that is missing?
I asked about this on the user's list and was advised to post it as a bug.

Ok, the bisect yielding only bads. .36 itself seems to not work anymore either.
There must be another regression on my machine. I tried the two previous
proprietary ati drivers, but they both resulted in the same problem.
I'm removing the regression keyword.
Is there any way to pinpoint to the culprit from the logs attached?

I have the same behaviour also, i successfully installed HOD (italian version)
on my xubuntu 7.04 and wine freezes every time i try to run it.
Launching both:
WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine HODWin32.exe
and
WINEDEBUG=warn+all wine HODWin32.exe
I see many system components are loaded (even if wine prints some messages) but
always it freezes after midimap.dll. How about yours?
