Closing. If you are still having this problem, please post exact steps to
reproduce the problem, as well as what distro, etc.. I understand you are using
Ubuntu Feisty beta, did you build wine from source, or use a package?

The documentation is sorely out of date, but in the meantime, this bug is closed
so if you have any other comments, post them to wine-users.

>Well, for being a console nerd, you didn't set it up right. There's more to
it than just setting up a symlink.
Then I would suggest the documentation gets a update from:
To add another drive, for example your CD-ROM, just create a new link pointing
to it: $ ln -s /mnt/cdrom ~/.wine/dosdevices/d:
To something more correct :)

> I chowned it to <username>:disk, and what do you know, it started working
Then this bug is invalid.
> not comfortable with having the user with full write access to the raw disks
The user only needs read access, same as with a mounted physical cdrom.

bit...cheating for a console-nerd like me
Well, for being a console nerd, you didn't set it up right. There's more to it
than just setting up a symlink.

EasyUO is an application which doesn't work perfectly because of this bug. Does it
increase chance of fixing it? :-)
For more info about EasyUO, please check bug 7874
In short: EasyUO works usually in background and it checks if player pressed some key-
combination in Ultima Online window. It doesn't work at the moment because of this
bug.

Confirming. Looks like another bug in oleaut32. With following workaround the
next window comes up just fine:
1. Copy scrrun.dll to system32, and do regsvr32 scrrun.dll
2. Using native oleaut32.dll

The /dev/loop/* was root:disk(with no access to other) so I did not have access
to the raw loopdevice. I chowned it to <username>:disk, and what do you know,
it started working. I must however make udev choose another group for the
loopdevices, not comfortable with having the user with full write access to the
raw disks, funky stuff can happen then.
Thank you for the help, another lesson learnt about the inner workings of wine
:)
I do however feel that using winecfg to set up the d: symlink is a bit...
cheating for a console-nerd like me :P
