>winecfg -D
Bad idea - do not do that. If it's there doesn't mean it works properly.
Also, if you just run winecfg and check if you have cdrom mapped, it should be.
If it's not, then HAL is not working.

Thanks for the hint. Yes, I downloaded the wrong version (How silly it is). Now
the patch works.

Well, if you think that the same program version worked with older Wine version,
you can try (and if it works, then it is a regression and one can do regression
analysis and find broken patch - that would be really helpful). Current wine
seemingly does not work well with compound paths
(somewhere.chm::/something.html), nor does 0.9.8 unless i missed something.

The feature is documented here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368264.aspx
Could you send your patch to wine-patches?
That's the only way to get it in. Otherwise one of us
will have to send it there for you, and that risks you
not getting proper credit.
Thanks!

Summary: Freelancer: unable to start
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_1395.shtml
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: greg87(a)online.de
This bug depends a bit on bug #8249.
After passing the splashscreen, there comes an error message "I'm sorry but the
account name and the password you provided are not valid....".
Using native msvcrt is fixing this.
Looking around in the bugzilla there are some other freelancer bug reports,
which came obviously not in contact with this bug. So it seems it worked in late
2005 and broke then after.
