http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8653
Summary: Desperados v1.01 won't run: ADPCM sound codec is missing
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.38.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-files
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: saboya(a)gmail.com
The game won't run after applying the v1.01 patch. The v1.0 ran fine besides
minor known issues:
mouse recenter bug fixed with patch
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7838#c2)
green background in some entities (currently unresolved)
This bug is similar to this: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1408
Which was fixed with fake dlls for ADPCM, but it seems that the game doesn't
even detects them...
PS: This is my first bug reports, I apologize if there's something wrong here :)

Thanks for solving this! I will try your solution tomorrow. in the meantime I
think that 'wine setup.exe' won't work because Linux won't unmount a directory
where you have 'cd' into. This probably will make disk swapping impossible
therefor I think wine explorer d:\\ is the only option.

Or you could upgrade your ALSA library and headers. This is a good idea in general.

Yes, after posting this I too have seen this with other mice....both ps/2 and
usb mice. To reiterate, this is a bug that has affected wine 0.9.28 and up.
Wine 0.9.27 is unaffected by this bug.

This is INVALID for sure...
use wine setup.exe
OR
wine explorer d:\\
to make it work
same error happens on Windows too if app is being
run(from console) from different directory where the main exe is.

I can confirm that I am seeing this bug without a Logitech mouse. I have a
Kensington PilotMouse Optical and when I move the mouse slowly over buttons, the
game doesn't notice the updated position. I have to move the mouse quickly off
the button and back on.
I have seen this in both 0.9.37 and 0.9.38. I am running Debian lenny and
starting WoW in OpenGL mode. Everything else seems to work perfectly.

OK now I get it...
I am "quite sure" this is INVALID.
when being runned like wine setup.exe the key stuff works.
when using wine "d:\setup.exe" it works but _ONLY_
if command is being run in same directory where the setup.exe so I am betting
this as INVALID bug.
