Have you tried increasing the video memory reported by Wine?

Summary: 3Dmark2001 crashes with wine-0.9.38
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.38.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: juergenw_(a)freenet.de
I have just compiled & installed the new wine version on my Fedora Core 5
system (kernel-2.6.20-1.2316-1.fc5) and found that the 3DMark2001 test suite
now crashes upon startup, see below enclosure.
This has so far never happened with any wine-0.9.x version I've had installed.

Switching to w98 fixed it for me, too. I honestly didn't think that old trick would work. This makes me
think the problem is hiding somewhere in ntdll. Perhaps a memory leak. It may be worth watching RAM
levels on an ssh session from a laptop
Similar issues to this have occurred before and people have said "That doesn't mean it's in NTDLL!!!"
So it might not be. But it can't be completely ruled out yet. Well discovered, Hugo!
