Yeah the native dbghelp.dll doesn't work anymore (steam has it's own and looks
likes something changed that broke it). Skip this step then.
BTW did you also used native msvcrt? I have noticed that it is a reason why most
programs crash instead of creating useful mem dump.

I tested it with Wine 0.9.39 and Kubuntu 7.04
Keyboard does still not work with C&C Red Alert in fullscreen.
On Wine Desktop the keyboard works. But the game is so small that it is hardly
possible to play it. Especially to scroll the game field with the mouse.

I've tried that, but run into some trouble:
Setting native dgbhelp.dll requries native dbghelp.dll to run winedbg. When I
give it that, it generates a 0 byte mdmp file.
If I try with builtin dbghelp.dll, the mdmp file is generated ok, but 'bt all'
gives no output. If I run 'bt all' twice, it gives "Exception c0000005" on all
subsequent tries.
With native dbghelp.dll, you get an MSVC++ messsage box when it crashes, rather
than a silent crash, but I don't think that's relevant.
This Wine is compiled from source, using the latest Git.

In
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.mail.pegasus-mail.ms-windows/msg/331fb7…
a user says:
I'm an ex-windows user, and I switched to Linux (Debian) a couple of
weeks ago. I've been using Pegasus Mail in windows for some years now,
and I decided to switch to Thunderbird in Linux for my e-mail client, and
to convert all my old Pegasus e-mail messages and folders over to
Thunderbird.
Part of the reason for the switch is that windows will no longer boot
(there's a bit of a story to this too, but I'll skip this for now). So I
decided to try copying all the old Pegasus files/folders into the new
hard drive, where I have linux installed. Then I installed wine (kind of
a compatibility layer that allows linux users to run many windows
programs; reportedly, pegasus and mercury both work under wine). Then I
installed Mercury (at the time, version 4.01). So, everything is running
on one hard drive, in one computer, with IP address 192.168.0.2
(computer's name is Rohan). Both Pegasus and Mercury are in their
respective default directories under the default wine directory ~/.wine/
drive_c. This "drive_c" directory should just appear to be the root
directory C:\ to Pegasus and Mercury when running them with wine. Each
of them appears to run normally, without any freezing or crashing or other
weird behavior. I've also configured Thunderbird to try to access an
IMAP server running at 127.0.0.1 at port 143.
I thought I'd configured everything properly, but when I tried to login
to the Mercury IMAP server using Thunderbird, I just got a message saying
that my password has been rejected. Since then, I've installed (not
updated) Mercury version 4.51, updated Pegasus to version 4.41 (using
wine), made several changes to the Thunderbird account that I'm trying to
use to login into the Mercury server, changed the IMAP server port number
to 144 (and did the same for the port number that Thunderbird is using for
the login), changed the IMAP server address in Thunderbird from 127.0.0.1
to Rohan.local and still no go. Password keeps getting rejected.
In Mercury, after I try to log in from Thunderbird, the IMAP4 window
shows the following:
Password failure, user 'admin', from 192.168.0.2
One thing I was struck by is that Mercury seems to be behaving as if it
doesn't recognize any user "admin", and so will not accept any password
from someone trying to log in as "admin". I went into Mercury's
configuration menu, selected "Local users", and there are no users listed
there. I thought this was odd, since Mercury is supposed to use the file
PMAIL.USR from the C:\PMAIL\MAIL directory. The contents of this file
are as follows:
; PMAIL.USR Pegasus Mail user database.
A;Admin;Mail Administrator
So I tried adding this user "admin" in Mercury, and it didn't take. No
error message, or anything, but after filling in information for the user
admin, and then clicking on "Add", the list of users is still blank.
Just doesn't seem to work, not sure why.
Another odd thing is that when installing Mercury (both for version 4.01
and 4.51) I'd specified the location of the Pegasus Mail installation.
But when I went into Mercury's configuration menu, and clicked on
"Pegasus Mail", it shows a blank for "Directory for Pegasus Mail .EXE
file". When I type in C:\PMAIL\MAIL, and then restart Mercury, this
entry is blank again.

------- Additional Comments From aj(a)iinertia.net 2007-23-06 07:11 -------
I had trouble initially working out how to use git to create snapshots that I
could use to make new pkgs for Arch (much prefer to keep it clean by installing
via Pacman), so I downloaded old tarballs from your archives and got down to
0.9.35 with the problem still happening.
In the meantime while creating these packages in the background I worked out how
to create snapshots using the git archive command, eg:
git archive --format=tar --prefix=wine-0.9.test2/
0a3a741a4ab0001f9b56cf8d5fe5c49e8ccfc12b | gzip >wine-0.9.test2.tar.gz
So I created this pkg and installed it, but I can't load EAC far enough to test
freedb as I am now getting what I guess are other unrelated issues coming up now
from running an older version of wine with a pretty uptodate install of Arch(?)
I am pretty sure this is the case as I then used then tried made a pkg for
0.9.34 from your archive and it also came up with the same error (some
'err:reg:SCSI' stuff).
So, it is happening somewhere between 0.9.33 and 0.9.35, but I can't take it any
further.. Sorry!
FYI, just to help clarify about this freedb bug, if I try to freedb lookup in
EAC when there is no network connection, eg cable unplugged, it DOES NOT go to
100% CPU usage and then lock up (EAC shows a 'connection error' dialogue box as
per normal behaviour). It is when only there is a network connection that the
problem happens. Hoping that this will help you narrow it down a bit.
Cheers,

Hi,
with version 0.9.39 the problem seems not to be that persistent. If you change
your view by moving the camera with the mouse, you could be able to reset the
brightness in too dark sequences.
Anyhow, I think with this new version the problem didn't occur that often as
before, but you guys should be able to correct this annoying
bug/feature/problem/whatever...
