Nope, sorry, I can't help you if you can't follow my
(sometimes difficult) instructions. There's one
more thing we can try: can you upload a copy of the
app so we can see it fail for ourselves?

It should be noted that installing IE under WINE (I used ies4linux) does not
solve this problem. Enabling the Mozilla control under Cedega does not solve it
there, either. I do not believe this problem is related to embedded browser
windows.

The installer (Dow_Demo_Install.exe) ran all the way through for me using wine
0.9.40, but crashed at the end with an error in IDriver.exe. Looks like some
intel driver it's trying to install. Not too sure, I'm attaching terminal output
in case it can help out any.

That is unfortunately beyond my means: my computer is used for business and has
limited disk capacity, so putting another distro on it is difficult if not
impossible. I also note that this particular version of wine is designed
specifically for Mandriva systems.

Summary: EverQuest 20070705 patch crashes upon item inspection
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: floppie(a)quadra-tec.net
With the patch on July 5, 2007, the item window was revamped. With this change,
the game crashes (with the normal client crash notification, rather than just a
total crash) whenever an item is inspected. It should be noted that this also
happens when the petition window is opened, which embeds an Internet Explorer
window into EQ; this is unrelated however, because the crash inspecting items
also occurs in Cedega currently, but the petition window crash does not.
