I try and the virtual desktop. Mouse just leave the window and you cannot
continue the game till you put mouse back in game window. I have set "Allow
DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window" in winecfg, but still mouse
leaving the window :(

Wine is not a genuine version of Windows, so it's perfectly legitimate for the
test to fail, we aren't going to add workarounds for it (and this would be a
futile arms race anyway).

Summary: Windows genuine advantage not compatible.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.42.
Platform: All

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Hi,
Windows genuine advantage no longer seems to work.
Limited research I have performed on the net says that this is because windows
genuine advantage is now looking for WINE keys in the registry.
My suggestion:
Either make wine hide its registry keys from apps other than winecfg for eg. Or
add some sort of check box in winecfg to turn this on and off.
I remember seeing a message on winehq from a windows software developer. He was
asking how to detect wine so he could use workarounds in his program. From what
I can remember, your response was "don't", because WINE was after full
compatability.
So I cant see this would negativity affecting compatibility.
Plus: It was working once.

I do have default Wine + DCOM98 & VB6 Runtimes installed.
Nothing changed in winecfg nor registry (at least not by me).
I'm using Kubuntu 7.04, I will wait for 0.9.43 update to test again, as I
already tried to compile myself Wine and the problem became worse jejeje...
Thank you for quick response :)

I am using wine-0.9.33 under Ubuntu 7.04. I experienced the same installation
problem, resolved by copying my (vista) windows versions of mfc42.dll and msxml*
to the wine system32 directory. I still had to set WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msxml3=n
when running StarUML to achieve successful startup.
