As of version 0.9.43, now the game isn't painfully slow and now it is
"playable". The problem is that after moving around in the game, the scenario
texture starts to disappear. After some time, the application crashes.
The message before crash is:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_UpdateSurface Surfaces has no allocated memory,
but should be an in memory only surface

Summary: Input Method window hides on Home Page Builder V9

I tried to utilize IBM's Home Page Builder Version 9 on wine 0.9.46 on Fedora 7
butt
Japanese letters in Input Method window (uim) hides behind the line below the
cursor and even blank area below the cursor. Japanese letters which I typed is
seen just only the little of upper part.
Can it make the whole IM window will be seen in front of all? (May this request
be not to wine...)
Or can it make IM window will appear below the application window?
*Or can it make letters typed with IM which are not yet entered will be seen
just the same line as the place where there is the cursor.
The best thing is the line (*)..
As I see,the other problem about Home Page Builder Version 9 is only the
previewing the editing page. This problem is perhaps a little complicated
because it needs to invoke Internet Explorer engine. But it can substitute by
using firefox or something.
If this IM problem cleared, IBM's Home Page Builder can be utilize for
practical use in the country that needs IM.
I am a Japanese. Poor English sorry.

When playing Grim Fandango, (which only works with X at 16bpp - see bug 9667)
the game crashes sporadically, even though some longs spells of gameplay are
possible.
The game may be completed in spite of this crashing if the savegame feature is
used paranoiacally !

This game was submitted by a user into appdb. I tested it, and the only thing
it does, is bringing up the configuration screen over and over again. It never
makes it into the actual game. I'll post some d3d info later on.

Summary: Ubuntu/Debian 64-bit 0.9.44 package does not exist

This IS a bug, as far as I'm concerned. Building the amd64 package can't be any
harder than building the i386 package, especially when it uses the exact same
binaries.
The last time I looked at:
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html
It was at least honest: It had a link to 0.9.44 for i386, and 0.9.43 for amd64.
Now, it does have a link to the nonexistant 0.9.44 package:
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/ubuntu/feisty/wine_0.9.44~winehq0~u…
which doesn't exist.
First I tried the repository, as described here:
http://winehq.org/site/download-deb
The most recent version available was 0.9.43. I then asked in the IRC channel,
where others confirmed that 0.9.44 was, in fact, out and in the repository.
That's what lead me to look it up for myself, and confirm that there is no
0.9.44 amd64 debian package, either in the archive or in the main repository,
or anywhere else I can find.
I know how to compile things from source, and I know how to force a 386 package
to install, but it's a hassle. It defeats one of the main reasons we use
package management: automatic updates.
I'm not sure exactly where to submit this. It's not a bug in wine itself, and
yet, it's not really a website bug. Then again, that IS a broken link there.

my nvidia-bug-report.log
I have just switched from an ATI 9700pro to a BFG 6600gt. Unfortunately, Medal
Of Honor: Allied Assault (MOHAA) will no longer run (the single player demo
shows the same problem). With my ATI board, it ran without a hitch in Wine.
After installing the latest Nvidia-glx drivers for Ubuntu Edgy, mohaa fails to
start. An empty grey screen is displayed, with the cursor visible. It seems
that it just can't start the game. ALL other Open-GL games run fine. Here are
my specs:
O/S: Ubuntu Edgy, i386 build
CPU: AMD 3000+ 64
RAM: 1GB DDR RAM
GPU: Nvidia BFG 6600GT
H/D: Seagate: Dedicated FAT32 partition
I have installed the nvidia-glx drivers via apt-get, as well as installed the
latest linux drivers (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run). Both produce the
same result.
Here is the output:
$ wine MOHAADemo.exe -opengl
aarons@Aaron-desktop:/media/DSK1_VOL3/mohdemo$ fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx
Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x5f564e5f at address 0x5f564e5f
(thread 0010), starting debugger...
Usage:
winedbg [ [ --gdb ] [ prog-name [ prog-args ] | <num> | file.mdmp |
--help ]
$
I have tried everything there is to try. I removed the card and replaced with
the old ATI and it runs. I used different versions of wine (up to 0.9.44) to no
effect. Either it is an NVIDIA bug or a Wine bug.

Summary: scanner cannot bring up TWAIN GUI

OS/Version: other

Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: thestig(a)google.com
I tried using a Canon N1240U scanner in Wine. This scanner works with
sane.
Whenever I try to scan an image, it tries to bring up a TWAIN GUI but fails
with a segfault. This occurs in both Irfanview and Picasa.
With Irfanview, goto File -> Acquire/batch scanning, and hit ok in the dialog
box. (You can get past bug 9404 by removing gphoto2.ds.so)
With Picasa, do an import and select the scanner from the list of sources.
(select device)
There is no backtrace from the segfault, but I tracked it down to
psane_control_option() in create_item() in dlls/sane.ds/ui.c.
